That's one bad-ass PS cooler. Whered you end up getting them?

Marty, is the guy who built them, seems to have a lot of knowledge of the industry and loves to talk super cool guy, he warranties all his coolers for the time you own the car, unless you wreck it and bash the cooler. He was very upfront and has been very easy to deal with. I’ll take better pictures once I get them, these are what he sent me. We still have to build a custom shroud for the fans that mount on them, and the side mounting hardware. Both cores are 5x5x2.25 with 1.25 end tanks.

Kendrik,

Does your power steering really need that much cooling or is this an aesthetic thing?

Well to be honest we dont know for sure, seeing the use of 275/35 18's or up to 285/30's the wheel tire combo starts to get pretty heavy, so i opted to just put in a cooler, the size was totaly just to make mounting both of them easier im sure it will be over kill "smiling smiley

It will be way overkill. A few loops of simple aluminum tubing would be plenty.

He doesn't say what he's building, but I've boiled the p/s fluid on a 1GN Neon, using puny 205 slicks on rough concrete. Since the retarded designers put the p/s tank above the exhaust manifold, I finished in a heavily smoking car surrounded by course workers with fire extinguishers.

SRTs and the 2GN neons have coolers, albeit much smaller than pictured. They also fixed the p/s reservoir location to someplace a little less hot.

So, I guess it depends, it seems to help with big sticky tires on rough concrete smiling smiley

My mounting location also happens to be anything but ideal. I have zero front end bumper space to use the typical method so all the air movement will have to be generated via a fan, so bigger heat sink the better.

ohhhhhhhh, look what I found!!!

http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=3288

AN fittings but with barbed ends!! that would make my life a whole lot easier, not having to worry about cutting hose 'perfectly' and making my own hose-end fittings...plus, they seem to be quite a bit cheaper (as long as I use the 'straight' connectors).

If I go w/-10AN....what would be the comparable ID in inches? 3/8? or 1/2"?

The part you found is what is considered a push-lock style hose end, pretty popular because of the ease of assembly. You can use them with STD rubber hose if you use a hose clamp but I wouldn’t if it going to see any significant pressure. One thing to keep in mind if you decide to do a lot of your cars lines with the push lock is the hose tends to dry out faster in situations where its heated cycled ALOT and the ends start to crack, ive seen this happen on 6 hose ends on my own car used in the engine bay. Cost and ease of use you can’t beat the push lock stuff sometimes. It has its place for sure.

see? you can learn something new everyday on Rally America folks!! Thanks Kendrick!

This would be for an oil cooler....so wouldn't ever see much above 90psi at start up, so I think it'll fit this application just fine...and since I'm not daily driving it, hopefully it'll take longer than usual to start degrading.

For a oil cooler i would do nothing smaller then 10an lines. THis going on your subaru? Yes the push lock stuff will be fine, just use push lock ends on every end dont use a brass barb or anything.

yeah, 10an was the plan...yes, for the WRX.

you're saying DON't use a brass barb or even a hose clamp on the ends? Are they that tight? That makes me nervous...hell, I even have zip ties on my vacuum lines.
