What is it with you people.......Step back and think about how your time could be better spent. Unless you are going to the car show with mirrors, once you bolt on a couple of pieces of HDPE under the full length of the belly pan, who is gonna care? Will it make you any faster? could that time have been better spent on making the car more reliable or safer? While I applaud you desire to "do it right" and emulate A proper factory rally car, I just can't fathom any good reason for painting the bottom of a car that will be hurtled down a gravel road and quite possibly wrecked several times. If you must cover your welds, jack the car up as high as possible and lie underneath it and spray some undercoating on it with rattle cans and spend the rest of the time and effort where it might be better spent. Thats just my 2 cents worth and I am willing to listen to reason. I'm probably way out of line and I did hit my thumb with a hammer today.

I've got an excellent reason that will offend all old timers AND more experienced drivers alike grinning smiley haha.

Paint is smooth, so less dirt sticks to it, meaning you pick up less weight as you go.

Weight.... ah, this forum hates that argument winking smiley

(and before you counter with "well if you lost weight" I'm 5'10" and 150 pounds tongue sticking out smiley )

Because it's awesome.

I spent like 1/2 a day painting the underside and wheel wells of my shell white.

You get under there, even at a rally, and you barely need a night it's so bright. You shine a light under there and it's like day time.

After the rally, jack the thing up, and 10 mins with a pressure washer and the thing is spotless.

$100 of materials, and 1/2 day....why not?

This is a very bad thing to do!!!

By such actions the car is learning to stay in this position, much like training a dog, and more then likely will enjoy the interaction with you, I suggest a new shell that has not learned to roll over !

As always IMHO

What are the little doodads sticking up in your trunk on the right side? There are two, they look kinda like a standoff, sort of?
