Back in the early/mid 80's, I think I was about 12 or so, my uncle started a body shop in one half of our farm machine shed, and I remember him putting a couple large patches in the bed of a pickup. He brazed it, and I remember it was a fairly long project because of the corrugations in the bed.
I wasn't really helping him or paying attention to the body work, I was helping rebuild my uncle's tow truck engine, in between the farming chores. Growing up farming, at least for me, has been one of the best learning experiences ever, as far as fabrication and mechanical projects.
I like this thread, as I always tend to enjoy learning about interesting stuff.
