Also, most garage floors aren't level. For instance, ours slopes like 2-3 inches from the side the door to the house is on, to the outer wall, and then a bit towards the big outside doors. It could also be partly that. Depending on where we move mine around, all are on all sides, or just 6.

How many events has the car done before this rebuild?

Three hill climb events (15-20 miles per), Rally Colorado, and around 200 miles of testing at our test facility. It was reliable, but I wanted to do a few things, seam weld, strengthen front strut towers and tie into cage, paint underbody and under hood, and replace old wiring, to really make me comfortable with it. Despite no issues with the car, it wasn't to the point that I was comfortable to travel with it and spend the kind of money that comes with that.

Score of the month arrived yesterday. Sold my Megasquirt for $600 and bought a EMS Stinger V4 ECU for $750. The best part, came with a brand new custom engine wiring harness built for the Ford 2.3, a part I had planned on purchasing for around $450 or so.

Well, finally got some work done on the car. Cleaned the shit out of it last weekend with my Karcher pressure washer. Put it on the rotisserie and painted the underside yesterday. Goes really quick when you have three people painting at once. Using Macropoxy to paint. Best results with a nice brush and small rollers. Dave Kern did the same to his BMW and found that you should not use foam brushes as they fall apart and leave foam chunks in the paint.
Second coat this week then it'll be time to work on the engine bay. Going to tie strut towers into the care, double skin them, and some general clean up. Then it'll be paint and reassembly! Can't wait to get out behind the wheel again!

looks good Grant! Doo Wops is march, get it done and tow that bitch out here. I will donate $100 to your tow fund. Why don't we start a tow fund thread on SS, maybe all those guys you have filmed for free want to give back!

Leave the car here, do Doo Wops, Olympus, Wild West, and Mount Hood, then drag it home. Billy Irvin is available all next year as Cody has no money for rally. John and I are working on maybe getting 3 XR's to Doo Wops.

I'm aiming for either Minnesota or North Nevada with the new car. Progress will definitely slow once we get some real snow and weekends start getting spent in the mountains snowboarding.
Current idea is either: Minnesota, Idaho, Ojibwe, Mt Hood, Big White. Or North Nevada, Idaho, Mendocino, Mt Hood, Big White.

We are thinking for next year:

Doo Wops, Olympus (70%), Idaho(80%), Wild West, and either Mount hood or North Nevada. If I can sort my brittish passport, then we will look into the 2 Canadian events, Mountain Trails, and Pacific Forest.

If you do come through here, you know I can store your car.

Well, I got a codriver in AJ Hakala, plus he's got a Cummins that wouldn't think twice about pulling a car.
Car will end up there at some point for all or part of a year. Just figure would make sense to get some shakedown events in first. I have to give myself a realistic timeline since I like to do lots of other stuff too and money can only go so far. smiling smiley It would be awesome to rally against a few similar XR's! And all the PNW posse!

I'd pitch in another $50 to help (he never films me....)

I sold enough video footage to PNW teams to pay for three plane tickets to NEFR. We didn't cover a single plane ticket to LSPR with NEFR funds and I spend well over $1000 to do each production. Which I really need to get back to working on... Stop distracting me!
