yeah, that's never been done before in racing.

Well, if I were a tech inspector and I discovered it (illegal composite roof panel) that car would not start the event and likely the logbook would get pulled. Assuming I didn't discover it in a logbook inspection in the first place, in which case the car wouldn't have gotten a logbook issued anyway. Just sayin'. Rules is rules.
