So, all this talk about the ease of assembling braided lines has me curious...

Can -3AN brake hose be assembled like this?

(DISCLAIMER: I'm not thinking about doing the whole car in braided hose winking smiley )

If so, I'll just sell my fancy pants braided lines and make my own. I'm assuming that I could get an AN adapter that would thread into the caliper where the banjo bolt goes??? I think I read a post or 2 from John saying that, but can't find it.

The problem with that hose is that its only reinforced by one layer of steel braiding. Most "good" brake hoses like the ones from Goodridge are made of the iner nylon tubing reinforced by a layer of kevlar, a layer of vinyl, and finally a steel layer again covered by vinyl. They hold a lot more pressure and much more consitently than regular braided stuff.

Something like that?

Could that also be used at the end of the hardlines to adapt to OEM (style) break lines?

I think Kendrick was saying more of something like this:
http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=4195
with this:
http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=6763
And two copper washers.
On my car, I did a double banjo bolt like this on the front:

Hehehehe smiling smiley

I bet your using the forum view where you see multiple posts on one page... I really need to start quoting messages so people know what I'm talking about. In the other view, you can see that I was replying to Kendrick's post where he said "If you want to save some money you can buy inverted flare adapters for the Master and convert it to AN then all your flares will be AN so you only will need a single tool." and I was wondering if those were the inverted flare adapters he was talking about.

Interesting to see things from this view...

John, I was just copying what Ford did for the fronts. smiling smiley

I also liked them for the handbrake as they lowered the profile and keeps me from hitting my elbow on them.

Personally, I've had more problems with leaky flares than banjos. Really more of a packaging issue than anything else. Or cost. I sure as hell wouldn't pay $20 for a banjo fitting!

Sure but they has skilled mechanics crawling all over the cars constantly.
Reason I don't like them is that if the hose moves ----> this a way it's OK but when a hose moves <-----that a way it tends and will loosen. I've seen several guys have chronic problems with seepy leaks with banjos.
Plus it costs a lot more than $1.29 for a connection.

Oh I like how the don't stick out and thus reduce chances of "Wayerhuaser Gravel' whacking a fitting off but all things considered (good gawd Left wing conspiratorial new organisations creep in everywhere!! Can't we keep politics outta here??!!!) I like a male fitting left permanantly in the caliper and a hose direct.

Oh, yeah----You ain't right if you ain't left!

Calipers are the FHI (Nissin I know smiling smiley) Subaru grp N calipers front and rear. I dont have rotors here to measure but fronts are same as wrx. I know you'll say those calipers suck but I get them cheap, have unlimited spares and they've worked just fine for hundreds (?thousands) of guys much much faster than me. Atleast I'll be using pads I KNOW you'll approve of smiling smiley
