The calipers arent too bad at all. They're better than the OE brembo in the Evo/STI to tell you the truth.

But anyways, I need the size of the pistons to be exact. I know that in the front they use something like 35mm pistons on a 296mm disc with a 47mm swept. In the rear its a 290mm disc with 37mm swept area but dont know the piston sizes.

Anybody know?

Progressive 2 x 1.5" and 1.625" front
Rear 2 x 1.5"

I betcha a nickle.
Some gawddama Subie stuff at Dave Clark's was that.
But we only measured after I bet him.

Why hasn't any Subie owner already measured the pistons or anybody who might be coveting the calipers?

Doesn't anybody bother to measure things?

If you had said suby, and had said brakes, and like them, why would you go out, take them off, measure, and put them back on? Thats probably why, lol.

I just spent like twenty minutes looking for something funny that implied "The Greater Good", maybe cause I watched Hot Fuzz the other night. I didn't find anything that was quite right but I did find this.

If something works good, smrat peeoples will examine just why something works good.
That involves often measuring things.
And then remembering.

tangent here - my parents had a great dane and a shih tzu when I was growing up. The shih tzu would always try to dominate the great dane (like in the picture). Till one day the great dane opened it's mounth and swallowed the shih tzu's head. It didn't bite down but just gave it a example of what it could do. The shih tzu never tried to dominate it again

You have the wrong ones!!!
Get the good ones!

Note Group 4 Escort (MkII rwd) used 4 x 1.5"/38mm front and 2x 2.0" back with of course a limiter.

For a heavier car, I'd expect to see sumpin just a bit bigger---but then again there's a booster stock so like whatever...

I've used 240 Volvo rears on a shit-ton of apps since its 2 x 38mm/1.5" and works so good with no limiter.

Ok gents, if the pistons are in fact 38mm front and 32mm rear this is what I would recommend.

Front 19.1mm MC (3/4"winking smiley
Rear 17.8mm MC (7/10"winking smiley

Ok now, assumed variables are:
Pedal ratio, 6.2 (Tilton and Wilwood top mount)
Pedal input 100lbs
Balance bar set at 50-50
Same .45 average Mu front & rear

That will give you an effective torque output of 2500lbs with a dynamic balance of 70% front.

And if you want to be like the "pros" I can tell you exact percent change in line pressure bias and dynamic wheel torque will each click on the balance bar make. smiling smiley

Hej Paulino, Ford did 4 x 1.5 or 2x 1.5 and 2 x 1.625 front, and later 4 x 1.625, and 4 x 1.25 rear.
They say they used 0.7 front and 0.75 rear. 285 x 32mm front, 285 x 25.4 rear

please help me unnerstan...

Re: Plumbing Brake Lines

Speaking of remembering John... That sounds similar to what I have.
0.70 master front and 0.75 rear (0.625 on handbrake)
4 x 1.625 on 285 X 32 rotors front (Wilwood FBSL 8466) and 4 X 1.125 on 275ish X 20.6 mm (Wilwood NDL 5074)

Got a little brake fluid on the balance bar, which then got a little dirt on them. End result is that the cool dial in car doesn't have the torque to twist the adjuster so I have to actually put a nut on there and manually adjust the balance.

Well you did some whizzo calculations on that Subie-junk, I'm just-a wondering if Fords master sizes make some kinda sense. The seem very consistent with smaller master for front even back in Escort days.
