I installed one on my Civic rally car and it makes it a lot easier to catch slides. Downsides are:
-It has a little play.
-The power steering pump may need upgrading.

I've got this one in the saab.

http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Small-Body-21-Steering-Quickener,2030.html

It sure as hell does speed things up.

Initial impressions on the road are that it feels a little draggy, is fairly heavy, even with power steering and removes alot of "feel." I don't know if any of that would be fixed by something more better than the oem saab saginaw (if that's what it is) steering pump.

i was always curious if a quickener like that removes the ability of the steering column to collapse.

anyone have any knowledge on this also?

I just did. There's 3,6 bazillion relief valves that vary not pressure but volume thru the outlet of the pump.
Go try tham all out!

If you put it where the telescoping shafts telescope together, then yes. Otherwise, you MAY be able to put it higher, or lower, and retain SOME of the travel.

I'm using a coleman 1.5:1. three years of rallyx and one stage rally so far w/o issue. it will only collapse about an inch or so now.

I have one in the suba-rat from L&E Fabrications. Its still collapsableability.

I then upgraded to a used STI steering rack. I'm now 1.75 turns lock to lock, its AWESOME. A little stiff in tight steering/parking situations, but on stage you can't even tell.

All on the stock steering pump w/no trouble to date.

Highly recommended.

I ran with one, I found no issues with the Colman, yes it did reduce the collapse of the column.

I think a good rack would be better if you can find on for you car, but if not it works well and I had no issues.
