July 01, 2010 03:59PM
Anyone know a place that has aluminized exhaust tubing for cheap?

Just drop the car off at dan fast in bellevue. They have done 4-5 cars for me, usually $150 from the downpipe back.

Can't drop it off, plus, I'd rather route it my way, lol. I'm sure they do good work, but I'm picky ha.

Just order it:http://www.mandrel-bends.com/catalog/builder-kits-33/ and if you're going to be that picky why aren't you doing it in stainless steel???

Because stainless is WAY too expensive for something that is just going to get crushed, haha. I plan on making it slip together and make a couple extra main bits so when a softball sized rock has it's way with the pipe, it will just slip out, and slip a new one in.

I'd bet I can arrange it for you to pick up some tubing at Gorlicks 800-929-0587 at my cost, seriously wholesale. They are up thataway somewhere...

Tubing comes in 7 or 10ft lengths. 1.5, 1.75, 2.00, 2.25, 2,50, 3.00, 3.50 and 4 inch outside diameters and mebbe larger but you don't need sewer pipe and the car would hi-center . I don't think they have almunized Ubends. I think they are just mild steel. How are your going to bend and flare the tubing?

That would be great, Gene!

As for bending and whatnot... if its kosher, could I just weld the mild U bend to a straight aluminized? I haven't quite thought about bending the tubing, I wanted to use the smooth U bends. As for flaring, I'm not sure yet. I'm kinda making this up as I go, haha. This is the make up stage ha.

Any suggestions? I'm thinking I want either 2.25 or 2.5 inch pipe, pretty sure 2.25. We own an exhaust expander thing, but I'm not sure it will expand it as much as I'm thinking.

I have ordered multiple times from Columbia River Mandrel bending which is somewhere up in that country.

What do you have for an expander?? Hydraulic or one of the little wrench operated ones?

2.25 is fine for that little motor winking smiley...

If you could get a trailer you could tow the car down here and I would be happy to do the exhaust for you, material cost only. .

The little wrench activated device..just has some fingers and a bolt in one end? That won't actually expand tubing. It is made to remove the deformation from clamping on an old pipe. Doesn't do that very well either...As the says on TV.."Timmy, come on down"

I have bought a few bends from AIR FLO systems in Tukwila. But that's mostly bit ass truck shit. So pretty much 3" only for cars.

You know those guys we see on videos from Sweden and Finland???
The guys building their motors and exhaust systems disagree.
