So what's the timeline on rear brakes. Same guy that set up Grants will do a nice setup for around $900. 11" rotors, Superlites, brackets and hoses. I'd prefer to stick with you if'n you'll have sumpin ready soonish.
JV, what's the bottom line on beams.. Cost, time to build one for me etc. I am trying to decide between a TSS reinforcing kit or a Square Beam!

Motor is ready to put back together. Got lots of boxes: Altenator mount, new ECM and big VAM, rebuild kit, cossie housing and lots more!

Stick with me.
Beam is sitting here with your name Sharpie-ed on but I gotta go work on struts now..
More later.
Like tomorrow.

Hey William, did you fit that upper with the hood closed, mine hit the hood when I only did a 90, had to rotate it down more for clearance.

If it hits the hood I'll just put a big scoop on there! Looks great William. PM me the costs etc so I can refill your coffers. Next pri? Well, I think the rear beam and (rear) brakes. No point in putting it together with the stock beam if one is ready for me..
The car isn't getting the Death Ray.. I just can't do it myself and have the car going any time soon. So I'm going to finish the engine rebuild and get the thing together and driving. Then drive it down to your place for a cage in a few months.
So, if you're able to get a cage mocked up I'll give you a downpayment for that also. Say half up front and half when it's all done?
I'd also like Control Arms like Sean has... I hate having to replace my whole arm because the ball joint is fook'd.
What else should I be thinking about while this thing is mostly in bits?

I have your (and Mothra's) alternator mount.
Have a square beam just waiting for a slot to try it on Sean's car to confirm....

JV... got an altenator mount from William already.. I thought that was communicated, but apparently not.. sorry.
I'm excited about the beam. Awesome!
Now I'm gonna shop for a transmission. I'm looking for a T5 from a turbo ford? I have the bell already.

Parts look great! My garage is freekin cold though... I'd like to get some paint on them and post some pix, but its too chilly to paint.
Not too much new. I'm reassembling the motor. The plan is to put it back together running with all the sooper botching stuff, then drive it over for cage.

Tranny question.. uh, how much does an operation like that typically cost, you know, for the whole package, or elimination thereof?

So what T5 did you guys recommend? I'm thinking the 80's World Class GM V8 T5? I've got a Turbo ford bell housing... does that bolt right up?

I probably should have read what you were responding to so that made sense. I was like, well first you have to fly to Trinidad, CO...

Hokay,
Motor is more or less together now. Got the block hot-tanked to try to get the rusty crud out and it seemed to work mosly. It's nice that the previous owner put a brand new head on there... looks good.

Original plan was to strip the car to nothing and make it sweet ala Sean's car. I now know that if I do that it'll never get finished. Too many other life priorities (like two little boys and training for the Boston Marathon, and then later in the summer, the Cascasde Crest 100 mile trail race.. this takes tons of time!), oh, and not enough skill, or the right tools for the finer fabrication stuff.

Soo, new motor, new transmission, new brakes, new suspension, and new rear beam this Spring. Also a bunch of cool Steel Solutions and JVL parts like altenator remount, 90 rotated intake, Cossie turbine housing etc. Drive the car to Steel Solutions for the cage. Then some easy seam welding and the detail bits like seats etc. Later I can do the details, but let's get this thing driving!

A few more days and I can have the motor ready to go back in. I can work at plumbing the cooling and intercooler etc, no doubt that will take me a while, but then the beam will be needed so I can accurately measure drive shaft length and have mine mod'd for the T5 and Supra diff.

Where is the death-ray? Is it worth it to use that to hit the wheel-wells, visible underside, and interior without a rotisserie? Rotisserie isn't gonna happen here/now!

Good question.
Why it is not HERE is a mystery.
And yeah wheelarches and floor would be easy.

How is it that I always seem to know where the death ray is.
It's sitting at our shop waiting for someone to need it and get sent on to them. Ironically a semi-local guy that's building a 1964 Falcon Sprint rally/hill climb car just asked me this week about what's needed to borrow it.
But I can send it on to anywhere I'm instructed to.
