How is it that I always seem to know where the death ray is.
It's sitting at our shop waiting for someone to need it and get sent on to them. Ironically a semi-local guy that's building a 1964 Falcon Sprint rally/hill climb car just asked me this week about what's needed to borrow it.
But I can send it on to anywhere I'm instructed to.

What the hell does a 64 Foul-coon have for undercoating?

If it has any its the old petroleum/tar shit and chemical softeners like our old favorite "Aircraft Remover" is the hot ticket.

Send the death ray home.

Got some new shipments in, and got the long-block together.

I just realized that for my Xratty my motor is new (sorta), the tranny coming (a T5 Zspec) is new, the Supra diff is new to the car, the brakes are half new with the other half coming, the suspension is new.
Lotsa sooper bitching JVL or TSS parts.

So all the major parts involved with accelerating down the road or stopping or turning are new or come from a different car. This leaves a looong list of 'nice-to-do's' like wiring, better A-arms, fully seam-weld, fuel cell maybe, paint etc. So perhaps the advantage of this car or a Volvo isn't that less parts need to be (eventually) changed, it's the price. A T5 Z tranny was less than half the cost of a 'competition' rebuild for my Talon... and I'd wager it'll last longer without having to contain two diffs.

Well truth is you can use all the existing stuff and have plenty-o-fun.

All the stuff you're swapping in makes the car just that much more fun.

And that much more competitive for higher overall placings.

And that much more RELIABLE

And yes the parts are cheap relative to anything that is sideways originally, and even cheaper when you say, buy a gear set and install it rather than a whole box, or score a diff for $50 (just got another on Sunday 3 blocks away!!!)

Absolutely. The T9 would last if cared for, a welded diff would do 90% of the supra setup. This motor needed fixing, but didn't need the intercooler etc. I guess you could run stockish brakes. I can't see getting around spending some moolah on suspenders.
Right now I've got a ton of work to get this thing going. Yo John, you said there was a beam with my name. Any chance I could come down some day and bring it up here for a test fit? Or if you're in the Everett area I could meet you? I could bring checks for that and rear brakes.

So car got dragged to Williams for a cage last week. Dunno where the stock rear springs went.. So the beam went in with miata springs... The car is riding LOW in rear. Front JVL struts had to be jacked up to the max so the spring perch wouldn't rub the tire since the car now had to be towed backwards on a dolly! What a mess.. Poor William towed at 40mph max as it ended up being real swervy. Tow back should be easier since it will have a square beam and JVL suspenders installed!
Now I can get my garage shop in some kind of working order.. and progress with this slow project winking smiley

A classic observation, Jason.

So excited to see the arms! What do you think the weight will be compared to stock?

I should have the front suspension arms done early next week, and we can bolt them on after we ream the ball joint hole in the knuckle.

Looking good William.

I know you are Jason. It's not like your car is in desperate need of them... BTW, I was there last week, and it is looking good!

Oooo, I like. Going to need something like that for the XRatty LeMons project soon. How much? Hell, how much for the bendy bits of the cage shipped out to Nude Hamster?

Dude. Did you see my message about LDR already having done an XR cage and that John probably still has the build specs in Bend Tech Pro and has a hydraulic JD2 bender. A few hour drive will be cheaper that cross country shipping!

I sent John Cassidy a message a couple weeks ago and only thing they've done is a main hoop, and I don't think it's in their software anyhow.

Brett and I can borrow a bender if need be, just we're going to be begging and borrowing unheated space for a winter installation and would rather just get right to the zappy-zap portion of our program. The 777 guys in California, dude, haven't gotten back to me either, but their price for 1020 DOM bent up bits is cheaper than we can get raw stock for around here...

Should've kept the rally shell for a LeMons car, at least I would've had some of a cage ready to go.
