Spent the majority of the night watching veggie tales with my 2 yr old. She was puking about every 15 minutes, couldnt keep anything down. I am very tired today.

I've scoured mikes pictures and comments, and nowhere does he say which axles he actually used. Newt from 034 used the stock front axles with swapped outputs in his v8 swap. I'm hoping that this will also work for me. I'll let you know how it goes once I'm able to get back into the garage.

Vittorio I gotta steal those piccies!

OK?

Hey I'm near certain I'll be able to do some 50mm replacement inserts in the VERY near future, so I'll post sumpin when the deal is done.
Only difference is they won't be chrome bodies but kinda gold...

Honestly I look at that photo and know what you've said how it worked and I actually shake my head and say "I did that suspension? Damn.....not too bad"

Look at the co-driver: looks like those teeth are clench down pretty hard.

That's one thing we don't have out West: kick ass jumps.

Here lifting a wheel like rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! is a "beeeeeeeeeeg jump".

CRS has some good jumps, I remember waiting to come back down for a while at North Nevada, of course the 50mm JVABs eat it up and asked for more.

oooh yah - Actually I think that was the long jump and measured @ 112ft. Now that I have a proper rev limiter, we'll be keeping the loud pedal down while flying - should keep the rig flatter...at least that's what I've read, heard, seen...

JVL - no problem on the piccies - I'll send you an email. What would have been really great is a picture of the 30 or so people that came into service just after that to see what the hell I had under the arches winking smiley

Let me know on the 50mm replacements - I'll take 4!! smiling bouncing smiley

Never really looked closely at the pic - check out the expressions on the faces - lets just say they didn't expect it from that ol'rig.

Vbares that is very impressive (prolly should include JVL in that compliment too). Some of the looks on peoples faces are priceless.

JVL we never got around to chatting about costs. Send me an email to mr_aj_johnson "at" hotmail.com

Ha, I'm trying to string together 30 minutes to work on the car. I'll call when I think I'll have more than 2 minutes to talk

-ummmm updates are for sissies...

car is neked. No thing but the rear end in it. Boxes of new parts and no time for install. Trans is going in saturday. Gonna swap heads on the motor for one with bigger valves and better cam. Considering trying my hand at some basic dremel work... any suggestions?

List of parts
haltech ecu
harness
fuel rail injectors, guages etc.

ARP headstuds
Head
Timing belt, water pump basic refresh stuff
couple of small turbos, gotta pick one and rebuild the spare both in approx the same shape

clutch
Lighter~ish flywheel
need to fab shift linkage

couple sets of 15" wheels, gonna cut some snow tires a bit so I can play Stig Blomquist
haven't done diddly for suspension, need to finish above stuff first.

I really want to experiment with some porting. Spare me the risks I have a couple spare heads I just want to learn.

ps beer is on me if anyone has time to pass me tools and drink it.

See you're thinking of standalone. What will you do for trigger wheel and sensor?

I've got experience with a few versions of that - I didn't want to place mine upfront on the crank pulley wheel as it is to exposed to getting nudged by something (like a flying rock) and taking the grin out of the drive winking smiley

I ended up putting a VW Polo rear main seal on the 5-cyl, has a built in 60-2 wheel and hall sensor - all OEM...main seal is bolt-on...

Just out of curiosity, why the haltech?

Picked it up cheap, used and setup with a decent tune, injectors, fuel rail, prebuilt harness, gauges et al. Came off a 10vt quantum syncro that bit the dust. Using fuel only for now.

Do you have a P/N for that seal? seams like that would be nice to throw in for a future upgrade.

Some people aren't too thrilled with how well it works, others like it fine.
