no doubt that is the 1 draw back - conceptually though, it is not a wear item and should perform consistently for a longtime (at least as long as a clutch
![]() You can set the teeth wherever you want - although it come w/an alignment tool that puts it at about 14 teeth before gap... That securing bolt you see below? Make sure its already tightened before putting the main seal on - wasn't much clearance to get it tight afterwards due to the angle. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/10/2011 07:08AM by vbares. |

Marc Swanson sells them, they should also be available from any supplier that can get European-only parts.
We're also talking about the company that put the cam sensors in such a place on the W8 that the engine needs to be separated from the trans to access them, and they also have a lovely habit of putting timing chains on the bellhousing side of the engine, which is good for NVH and space reasons, but it's unfortunate that they don't last as long as a timing belt when people actually believe that you can go 10-20k between oil changes... Long story short, it's easy to find 2.5 Rabbit engines nowadays. |

Ok after some extensive reading - it seems most people are running into problems since it is a hall and not a VR: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3516017-16v-MS-coilpack....but-no-crank-trigger-!/page6
Have you got one running with it? -Jason |

Ah, I'm going to run a electromotive XDI which needs a VR. Dang it. Hum... anyone used a 120-4 tooth wheel for a camshaft sensor... they say not for high RPM's since it can't calculate that fast. I wonder what high RPM's are defined as -Jason |

Erhm.... if it's able to do 60-2 on the crank with the same sensor, then - given that there are no issues with tooth size or other stuff - 120-4 should be just fine. The cam does run half speed ya know? Brgrds Brian ![]() |

Oi Oi Oi Wildert, what can I do? I tried to convince him that whatever you do ANYTHING vital to making the car RUN should be not just easy accessible--but easy serviceable. Ja shore yabetcha he say but it might get hit by a rock. Therefore I must put it where any question of a problem will automatically cost a DNF!!! I am a failure. I am going to start drinking. You take over. |

I'm saying I spoke with Gustavo and warned him tho remember all sensors can and do die. And that since all sensors can and do die, they should be EASY to get to and replace (not buried someplace that a gearbox removal is needto just to see the thing). I suggested front pulley and to mount it securely, and make the mounting so banging in a new one was a quick job.. He's still talking about burying the sensor in a totally impossible to get to place. I failed to convince him to use reasoning.. I am a failure. Therefore I thought I should start drinking---"blir alkoholist". Simple really. |

Electromotive says the XDI will do a 60-2 on crank and a 120-4 on the cam. Yes the cam is half time, hence double tooth count for putting it on the cam. If I can put it on the cam - it is both 1)easier to get to and 2)way up out of the way from rocks and other things that will be attacking the bottom of the engine. -Jason |
