Do you plan to swap tp 5 lug wheels? i believe the VR6 axles have a different spline count etc.., you may want to look into Mk3 2.0 axles, they are a bit longer then the Mk2 stuff and beefier.

Yeah, we haven't sorted all that out yet. it really will come down to brakes and wheels. If we run 15" wheels and 11" brakes then we will probably go 5-bolt.

In the rear, I want to modify the rear beam to accept mk4 rear stubs & bearings which are significantly stronger than the mk2/mk3 stuff.

My dear friend Tom Buress took a suggestion that popped into my fertile gourd and grabbed some 5 bolt Mk-whatever new big fat car thing 5 bolt hubs which indeed had the right splines and which were meatier in the places that our previous real fast VW man and he have kilt hubs.

We plug welded up the holes then went down to the mill and banged in 4 holes...easy peasy...then spent an houring struggliing with getting the bugger to accept the big whatever disc---till while bitchin about needing to see the old theing he said "I have the 4 bolt hubs in the car" Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Turns out a few zip zap zop on the OD of the hub and all is well..

Near insta-stronger stuff with a mere welder and mill

I just want to be the know it all at the dinner party when rally cars come up, which they never do, which is why I never go to dinner parties.

Al, I agree....we should have our own dinner parties. Isn't there a Hooters or something in between us?

Lets go old school, Tommy's Joint on Geary, then stumble down the block to the O'Ferrell Theatre...

but back on point that IS a variable nozzle eh? I thought those were pretty rare, what's the story?
