care to share pics or more info on the track rods and the subframe? my gut instinct is that the CV failures on the 88-91's may actually have to do with the amount of steering angle that can be achieved - no numbers to back it up yet, though. Certainly isn't horsepower, though - I've broken CVs in both civics i've had, w/ ~60 and ~100 hp. |

Whizbang is the name of our team. The guys doing the cage go by Blklist Motorsports. It's just a couple guys in a small shop. I'll pm you their number.
Also Gene they measured the roof bars and said it's right at 4 inches from the A pillar bar. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/01/2011 01:15PM by shiza. |

Same issue on 94-2000 Integras... we broke lots with our Integra. If anything we're having less issues with the Civic, but that could be the 50+ HP drop. |

What exactly was it that was braking? The outter CV or the inner cup? The only issue I ever had on my old rsx was one time the inner cup had a crack in it after a rally, that was it, it caused a vibration but didnt come appart. Never had anymore issues after that. But those were with the 36mm axle/hub combo so might be stronger. |

I talked to them yesterday and these bars are being added along with the harness bars. They also started on the gussets and we measured the roof bars right at 4 inches so it's just a hair over 100 mm but if I read the NASA rule book right it says 4 inches. |

Outer CV always. Often as not exploded, sometimes just cracked/split enough to not work. 32mm nut, we've upgraded to the 36mm nut size, pretty big difference in the CV joint itself. We'll see. |

Well the cage got "finished" last week. Unfortunately the asshats that did it pretty much totaled the car. The left A pillar bar had a bend in it that went towards the center of the car, they welded over tar, burned through when welding the floor plates, had a LOT of holes in the welds, the gussets looked terrible, instead of re-roofing the car like they were supposed to they welded a plate in the hole which turned out like crap. More stuff. I was told it would be better to just find a new shell. Soooooooooooooo I need a new shell. looking for an EG this time. Seems like more options with the newer shell. I'm on the hunt for one now. Just sucks dealing with this crap in Afghan. If anyone knows of an EG hatch preferably near a cage builder let me know. The closer to Idaho the better.

They intend to pay me back yes. Who knows though it took them 5 months to get the car "finished" so I don't know. After this fiasco they decided to stop doing business. I have already told AJ who is also in the Boise area. I decided the next cage will be done by one of the many cage builders that is a part of the rally community. Not trusting many people any more.

Holy shit, more catastrophes..first the rust-stang, $1000 down the drain and then this. Man....Is that the name of the shop in the post immediately above this one I've quoted? Find out what small claims action you can do. Depending on the limits, maybe you can do 2 separate actions: refund of money for the "work" and a separate one for damage to the car...
