Another RWD car joins the fray

This thread is making me dizzy!

I saw the former Hintz Subaru going south on the back of a trailer a few weeks ago. I am happy to hear that they (both of them?) are going rallying again.

Mr. Bottles- If you want to rally again let me know, I can be you enabler!

Jay- How is your car? Did you figure out the drive shaft thing?

Grant- What is the other suspension option? Spill the beans.

1995 M3 powered cars can still play in G2 based on the displacement tables since its a 3.0L, whereas 1996 & up cars have a 3.2. Still unsure what they'll weigh in at with the big 6 cyl up front. Most of the weights I've seen for prepped rally BMWs are from overseas and they're running S14 motors instead.

Sellholm 50 MM front and rear
Sellholm 50 MM front and Proflex 3 way 50 mm rear
Reiger 3 way adjustable

There's lots of other rally specific parts out there as well. I can get you anything on any of these lists.

Alcon

Skid plates:
Aluminum
Kevlar

Composites:
Light pods
Carbon door cards
Kevlar tank guards
Side mirrors

Damn. Actually I forgot to specify the above are what's available for non-Compact E36 cars.
Everyone knows what you have and can do.
For a Compact, in rear you can do JVAB 40 fronts with 50 rears. Dave used Tim Taylor's rear shock towers in his Compact.
The Compact has a STA style rear suspension.
The 325 and M3 have a multi-link setup. That's what all the above I referenced are for. I'm sure JVAB could design a set for those as well.
But if any people want something higher end or heaven forbid don't want to work with JVAB then there are other options that are made for rallying.

I was saying that shortly there will be more 50mm FRONTS, just lined up the missing part: chrome on the insert bodies. tubes are done.

And yeah, I guess some people are so outraged at how I bully everybody, all you guys, how you're crushed in submission, and your will is destroyed that they would rather pay $6000 for what the virtually identical thing would cost them $1200. good business decision.

Somehow USA and USSR traded in extremely strategically important commodities for 70 years, and if you believe what Washington said, we didn't like them very much...

Yes, we figured out the driveshaft thing, and now we're on to all manner of other things. Things like making the turbo fit tween the radiator and the block, which it's willing to do with the right manifold as long as we lower the profile of the front lower trans mount, right up till we try to install the WG actuator which is when we find we have to redo it completely to make that item fit, etc etc etc ad goddam nauseum.
If I'da known even a fraction of how big and spendy a PITA this woulda been, I never woulda started. It better be worth it...

So, what you're saying is that the $6k I spent recently to replace my JVAB's to get a custom set of RSSP's made was not a worthwhile investment?

I think anyone building a BMW should spend the $10k to get the Reigers anyhow.

Oh it sounds like an excellent investment especially considering how much time you put on them..
At that price I am surprised you didn't get 2 sets at least.

And you're right, 10k seem to be the new 1k, it's what all the cool kids are spending on struts.

I know. I figure after one rally and a few hill climbs they're probably about ready for retirement.
But back to the real world, I do plan to bring you the front one that I bent the pin on to get straightened when I come out for Olympus.

No washing. Coming into PDX Thursday night and back out on Sunday night or Monday morning. I can leave it with you and just get it sent back whenever. Reality is even Ojibwe in August would probably be an unrealistic goal.
