Im looking for a mono ball or something rally tough for the front lower control arms of 08 up Subaru?

They changed the way the lower hooks to the car and it doesnt look to have rally strength or travel built into it.

Parrin makes an insert but I think its more track stuff then rally.

Send us sample!

If you wanted to spend the money, Aurora makes staked and standard teflon lined spherical bearings. They aren't cheap, they are actually scary expensive when you get to bigger sizes. They are air craft grade and will take a ton of abuse too. Don't worry about getting the "high-misalignment" sphericals, they cost 2x. You can do the same thing with some machined cones or a spacer.
For the Subaru control arm, you can probably machine an aluminum or steel carrier that holds a spherical bearing (staked or std) and then use a BIG snap ring or a bolt down plate to hold it in. If you know anyone with simple machine tools (lathe and a milling machine) this can be done in an evening. Remember, when things don't fit... JB-Weld/Loctite!

I just got these yesterday for a hillclimb car project I'm working on. 3/4" high-misalignment monoball with Chrysler-style tapered pin. Pins cost me $18 each (Coleman), monoballs $59, housings $17 (both from UB Machine).

What I've done is go to a larger size---7/8" (close enough to the 22mm ID Ford used on their arms as ball joint, maybe 006-007"winking smiley and then sleeve down to the size needed, and incorporate the shoulder that the High Misalignment bearing has integrated but then a good bearing is 20-25 bucks rather than $59. Alternately a stepped down spacer with a nice large register---that's what all the shiny stainless things are.

Important thing is I can be assured that by straight copying the size of the GpA Ford stuff that the load capacity of the bearing is good enough for what we're doing---since it was good enough for their speed and power.

I'd take John's advice for the XR since he works with them all the time and I know nothing about them.

However, in the 'just FYI' department, here are the taper dimensions.

Taper overall height: 1.150"
Taper diameter at top: .750"
Taper diameter at base: .890"

Good info getting ready to make my own adjustable front LCA so the sources will be very useful.
