Not a lawyer rule, a nanny rule. The insurance companies don't give a flying fuck if you kill yourself rallying - you've signed away your liability, and the waiver will hold against you, as does common law assumption of the risk. Smoke and mirrors excuse to limit novices from a perceived, but never proven, greater accident rate in AWD turbo cars. |

And meanwhile any fool can start in a 200 bhp P car, or a 230 bhp Gp2 car... with short gearing.. Gotta remember both Havir and Niday did basically start with some junk and nearly immediately switch to expensive Subarus which they promptly began flipping, Havir particularly---like 4 violent rolls in 22 events.. In other words, they done did stoopid, therefore logically everybody will be stoopid; better ban stupidity. ah Of Course... I think anyone who has seen G.doganis , Hoche, Crane, Duplisess , gaylord van brocklin . knows that the speeds are much to low for a G2 car to crash....... . .. .
![]() well there goes my theory the rule is based from playing a lot of racing video games, and they really like how you often can only use the cheesy cars until you get enough points , and then you unlock the faster cars. |

that makes more sense than the current rule. I know we can't talk logic and reason to everybody, and convince them they'd spend way less and have way more reliable car and have way more fun in my favorite 2wd cars---which are only my favorites cause i know how well they work---and how cheap we can get into them for---but this rule forcing people to do shenanigans like in this thread is just flat stupid... and they can't come back with their ludicrous argument "best practices!!! BEST PRACTICES AH YIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!" Most places most people aren't so deluded that they imagine they must START with a turbo 4wd car---and they grant PROVISIONAL liceneces.... What's kinda sad here, at least for my WRX with stock 8.0:1 pistons in it, running on just the wastegate spring (7psi), I'm roughly equal to a 11.8:1 NA engine (albeit a little cooler intake charge overall). That coupled with a 32MM restrictor is going to be a 'open light' powered car.. Heck you can easily see that in the last few rallies burke and alex have run (driving differences aside) as burke's car is pretty much running a 7psi TD04.
Using http://www.dragsource.com/index.php?navselect=calculators&calctoview=3 to calculate.. Not sure 100% on accuracy, but my gut says it isn't far off. Its easy enough to check that you are running on just the wastegate spring.. The only caveat there would be messing with its setting.. |

Sounds like we should do a drag race and test out your theory.
http://www.sacramentoraceway.com/ Can you get there by 5 on a wednesday? ![]() |

Yep, maybe we can get Burke to show up and join the party as well.
![]() actually that would be sweet, get a great comparison between an RS, a WRX on a 32mm and 7spi, and a wrx on a 34mm and 14 psi ... anywho /thread jack. I'm so convinced a "simple" air bypass pipe is the best solution for your car. you could slap a generic cone filter on your turbo air inlet to keep it safe, probably picked up a used one on ebay for cheap, and even resell it for about the same after... so you should only be out the cost of a by-pass pipe ... which could probably be made at lowes for cheap (might generate a few laugh at rice comments though) hehehe |
