You can slam them against the side of the roof and put a bend about 6 inches from the end to get it over to the main hoop if you want.

Speaking of rules.....the main hoop has 2 bends in the lower, only one is allowed. HOWEVER they are very small and I wouldn't actually fuss about it. Just pointing it out for others. Leave it alone it's not going to be a problem.

I struggled with this... the rules state the bars have to meet the main hoop at the roofline the roofline is at the top of the bends in the main hoop I was afraid if I did it diffrently it would not pass

Huh?confused smiley

what is hard to understand... I joined the half lateral bars at the top of the bends in the main hoop instead of halfway through the bend as seems to be the common method. the reason I did it this way is that article 253 says the half lateral bars have to join the main hoop at the roofline

The 'join at the roof' line means they can't be bent down and join on the main hoop 1/2 way down the window opening, like the homolgated Subaru style in the past. The bar needs to bend at the windshield and come back following the door opening. It can attach anywhere in the upper main hoop bend.

Yeah, you really are taking things too literally. Anything above the top of the window opening can be considered the roof line, not just the outer skin of the roof.

I guess I should have asked but... I do have some plans to gain possibly another 2 " of head room and that should take care of any problems I may have with hitting my head on ingress and egress

At least he follows directions! grinning smiley

He must be the polar opposite of me building a cage. For one, it's moving along quickly, hah! For two, it sounds like Gene hasn't threatened to send him a cell phone bill yet winking smiley
