LMFAO!

Seriously - all car guys are worse than any drug dealer out there...

As I've said many times, a passion for racing makes an addiction to crack seem like a mild craving for a saltine...

DOUBLE ARGH! Bad Turbina's durty sistah!
September 08, 2011 12:47PM
Test day at the track a week ago Monday. 1st 20min session seemed quite good - nice low-end torque, peters out at the top end due to the restrictor - but I think will be good on gravel.

I did notice at the end of the session, on my last high rev shift, around 6k rpm, there was a loss of go.

It was the last lap, so basically slowed down and brought it into the pits...upon restart after about 40min - took it out on the track and it had no-go above 3-4k rpm...also a nasty metallic bang would occasionally grace our ears while idling in the pits (brought it right in when power went away) - it was so abrupt and loud that we thought it was coming from the transmission...here's what we found...

bottom line - we found that the oil restrictor was occluded. I believe it to be a particle about the size and shape of a grain of black beauty. There is no way to determine if it came from my oil line, my shop, my suppliers shop, his suppliers shop or the manufacturer...so, SOL for me...

My supplier is helping out and getting a rebuild from Garrett for 25% of the cost of a new turbo - but man! what a kick in the balls !!!!sad smiley

Lesson learned? Just give that oil line a squirt in a bottle before you consider it good to compete...

Tell me about it - I'm getting superstitious!!

Is this just more lessons from the school of hard knocks - or a sign - maybe the ol'Audi is tired and just doesn't want it anymore !?!

Screw that - she's gettin a good spankin when this is all sussed out - and by golly she'll like it!!

I better go read my horoscope, or have my tea leaves read, or my balls scratched with garlic...I dunno...just want to get out there and spray some gravel, get er slideways and have a bitchin ride !
