Bob, we'ze oughtter be able to find ya one for $50-100 or Ill throw a bunch parts I have laying around in a box and send them....
The beauty is the Xratty boys all want T5s cause 'they're weak" and "blow up if you rev it to 4000 and side step the clutch"...

of course, of the 5 I've poked around in, all 5 had been run for years with low oil level, seriously low and had bearing failures, so obviously the box is weak---right?

Sniff around for the adaptorplatta a bit. It may save you a couple thousand bucks. My preferred gearkits come from Tran-X rather than Quaiffe---supplied Opel kits in years past and there was never a problem...

You stinkin of dog engagement? Synchro works really nice when the ratios are close, slide right in.

My T-9 drove just fine. The thing was dry dry dry though when I took it out just as John says.
Quaiffe is close to queiffe for a reason. Better than a fart but still... If there's any other option like Tran X then go for it.

So, cast iron can explode but how d'ya'll feel 'bout aluminium.

I'll contact some guys I know overseas, see if they at least have a drawing of the adapter plate. Could always have it made over here.

If I can get a T9 core, I'd definitely be willing try out the Tran-X gearset. I had my heart set on dog engagement (I definitely love it for road racing), but I suspect that's mostly one of those 'wanna haves' rather than a 'gotta have'. Kinda like needing anti-lag on a stock, regionally run WRX....eye rolling smiley

I asked a local guy who make NHRA Top Fuel car and bike clutches once and he asked me right back: Why do you worry?"

My answer was "Heat cycling??"

He said "Close---did you ever think of the strength of aluminum at 800-900 degrees"

Aluminum strength plummets above 450 degrees...

Simply no advantage worth considering

Keep me posted so I can make a pile of junk-n-stuff.
Right now I'm telling you you WILL want to source bearings and seals and gaskets at some UK place---i can send you links. It's allvery reasonable in UK, stupid expensive here.

It's a real simple box with only 1 major revision...front bearing on the clustergear..

Oh yeah. John and I have spoken of this.

Progression is good, in John's projects and mine.

Carry on and be merry
