Where to put the e-brake handle
September 17, 2011 01:47PM
Where is the best/most common/preferred location to put a hand e-brake? I was thinking just to the right of the shifter. But I know someone that had it between the shifter and the wheel and liked it there.

So just looking for some input.

Thanks

I put mine to the left of the shifter, simply because there was no room for it on the right of it without everything else getting in the way of it. But I've come to like it on the left side. It's also SLIGHTLY less plumbing to do. smiling smiley

I've got it to the left of the shifter on my cars.

For a RWD car my preference is a lay down one in stock location. The only time you need it is when you fuck up and at that point who cares if it takes an extra half second to grab it. Then it's pretty much never in the way and if you do banjos for plumbing the brake lines stay clean and fairly well protected.
I always thought it's be cool to have it on the left side of the wheel at wheel height. Just for looks of course and has to be complemented by a carbon fibre dash.

I liked mine, push handle between the shifter and the dash, about wheel height.

Only problem was if I didn't get it bled right I'd bash my knuckles into the dash trying to use it.

Well can't do a lay down one because I already have a stand up one. But I hear what you're saying. If I had to buy over again I would probably buy a lay down type, but you know, those aren't the kool kind. winking smiley

I'll see what it feels like between the shifter and the steering wheel, which both ironically are not in the car at the moment. grinning smiley

Mount it on the ground so you have to reach between your crotch to pull it. It'd be funny at least. smiling smiley

Mine's on the right of the shifter, but behind the wheel (dished wheel), so when you go for it, you just extend your arm. It's really nice, actually. I'll see if I have a good pic.

Oh you said left of the wheel. But regardless it looks like a nice place for it where you had it. I should have my wheel and shifter in this week so I'll start playing aroun with it. Guess that means I got to get the seat in there too. smiling smiley
