Well I take it back then ![]() Really nice to see you're alive and kickin...what is that grey crap on your chin?? All you new guys..this Qvale guy here was the real deal. I'd say he was one one the first really fast FWD guys, good enough to get some help from Dodge back in the day. So pay attention if he offers any advice. |

Not to diminsh anything but those GHT-t things made 175 bhp and 175 ft/lbs @1900 rpm. The gearboxes were by no means close but with 175 ft/lbs @1900 rpm you don't need close ratios just nice even spacing---which they put in the GLHs, and a 3.89 final drive... The steering was a nice Saginaw power rack with 2.5 turns lock to lock... The Omnis had a 99" wheelbase...and being a French design--NO OVERHANG , less than a Rabbit or Golf. Longer by 5" than most of the then current junk (0.6" longer than the mighty Saab V4), way nicer steering than 99% (the Saab was 2,2 turns and zero scrub radius, very light), more Beee Haitch Peas, and way more Fooot-Lebz at very low rpm, and an excellent spread...... It would be very hard NOT to go fast in one..even bone stock. (Did a headgasket on one for a cop friend and when it was done he said "Go for it! I have my badge, no problems.. Holy shit it was cool---even on asphalt) Some of us recognized those key differences and what they meant... Nice review of the venerable GLH. Mine had a few extras including a closer ratio all hardened gearbox (not found on the regular menu), a 7.3lb aluminum flywheel, a slightly different cylinder head and a Doug Sheperd (sp?) tweaked fuel map. According to the Mopar Perf guys i should have been closer to 185Hp because of the cyl head, computer and Magic
