So its getting close I am just wondering what my options are as far as hand brakes go or should I even worry about a hydraulic one yet?

There are a lot or people with a lot of reasons to defend installing a hydraulic handbrake. I think you're better of learning to drive without having a handbrake as a crutch. (Most people admit that it is a last resort that comes into play when things aren't working right.)

If your plans for the car involve re-routing the brake lines anyway, then I'll admit this is not a TON of extra work, but it is still extra work for minimal returns. If you're changing rear brakes to something without provision for cable handbrake - the question answers itself.

If you are building something AWD with a tight and fixed rate centre diff (25kg STi par example) a handbrake will disappoint you. (It works on all 4, not just the rears)

CNC staging brake. $130 or so, integrated master and mount.

You can also modify the stock handle to actuate a master. $50 master and some fittings.

I went low tech. For the few turns when LFB doesn't quite give me the rotation I need, this does the job quite nicely. No finesse - I just need to stop the rear wheels from spinning so they break loose.

Steel bar from Lowes, that I bent bent to shape then parallel matched with another piece. Welding by Anders(TM). Handle from a skipping rope fitted by Kieran. Cotter pin to lock down the brake button. Priceless. (Well, maybe $10 parts + a welding six pack).

Three hose clamps! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay high tech! They're stainless too!

Come on low tech would be 3 zip ties and a lotta duct tape!
(which I wrap below the botton, then tape the button down, that's low tech--even if the Duct tape i use came from the aborted Nuke-u-lar powerplant at Satsop, WA)(So in the hierarchy of duct tape its pretty top drawer stuff)

The pic of that cool home brew handbrake extender was the high point of my Friday night. Sad state of affairs, eh?

The Midnight Pumpkin has the stocker handbrake with tight cables, combined with my Popeye forearms it works fine (been doing some concrete work recently, anyone want to arm wrestle?)

Simon, Every time I pull the brake in my SVT daily driver I worry, Seeing how it flexes, that I might break it. Thanks to you, I worry no more... thumbs up

was the integrated CNC one good on quality? i ask since the other version can accept a wilwood and if the one they provided is iffy, there is no way to work it. (seemingly)
