deutsch connectors Nope now what are they?
October 02, 2011 11:37AM
Starting to build a the engine side harness for my STI track car and I wanted to acquire new plugs and pins for all the connections instead of soldering onto the old ones, but im having limited success on locating a good source of deutsch connectors, not only that identifying the line that my car is using. Anyone have any experience with them? Any local resources around Seattle?

Northwest Handling in Renton has deutsch connectors, pins, sockets, and crimpers, I can get you part numbers for the applications they carry...

Edit to add...

http://www.crown.com/usa/parts/pdfs/section2.pdf

Page 8 has the connectors everything you need...

Wow Thanks SteveL all the bodies I have are still usable but getting the correct pins would be ideal, even better they are in Renton. I wonder if i took a few pins down if they could sell me the pins and the crimper. I think ill cringe when i see the price of the crimper.

I used www.p-r-s.com for my civic. I know these guys from the pro field and they are pretty good. Prices are on par with the rest of them and the best is you can call them and ask them I need this that and the other, and they will just tell you exactly what you need. No wasting time looking for crap in catalogs.

Deutsch connectors are very good. I have been using them for years. The only problem is that the crimp tool is very expensive. I used to be able to get the tool from Boeing surplus for six bucks. Now you have to buy the real tool for over two hundred!

Thanks everyone for posting, Im pretty sure I made a mistake and the connectors are not Deutsch! This might be a good thing, but now I have to figure out what they really are. Here are the pins from a sortment of connectors. I think they are Metri Pack connectors? 280/480/630

#3 and #6 look exactly like the Honda pins I just ordered for late model Honda shells. Can you post a picture of the shells?

You can also send an e-mail to Apex Speed http://www.apexspeedtech.com/contact
Neel is back east tuning something right now but he checks his mail regularly. Their online store doesn't show much but they stock most common wiring harness components and can get anything.

A few of those pictures look similar to the terminals I just ordered for my subaru.

I ordered them from New United Race Tech

My car was using assorted Yazaki(majority I would say), Sumitomo, and Lear Connectors. I started matching them up at my local Subau/GM dealer but the ones I didn't find I ordered from the above link.
