If they aren't willing to climb over a roll cage, they prolly aren't worth the time. Plus you can practice pace notes on the way to dinner. |

that might be scenic in itself. I used to enjoy watching my wife, when we were dating, climb up into my Tacoma. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/07/2011 12:52PM by Racinkid13. |

Yo Myles
What did you use for adjustable tensioner and idler on that set up? Hey there a brilliant wank fest going on here: http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?p=3962750#post3962750 Why don't you go tell them what a car at normal ride height but GOOD suspension felt like with shocks at the axle.... Ben "I'm a "suspension Engineer", but I nearly flipped my car in a parking lot at under 20 mph" Kaplan is pontificating... That's the Yoshifab tensioner kit.... I used his billet steel round tooth crank snout gear, and his timing belt tensioner, with the blue kevlar belt... Those gawwddamn TurboBitcherzz gotsta figure out their shizz on their own, naahhhh mean. While I gotst ya....that sooperbitchin flywheel has gotst me goin ohhhhhhhhh weeee....anyhew...i thought the dowel pins had a specific direction they've gotta go in....are they tapered in a specific direction or different diameters at different ends. They didn't come marked, so I gotsta gets dat riggghhhttt
Dayumm, that'd be bad....Gonna loctite them n torque them down....and routinely check that out Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/20/2011 01:40PM by Mylesofsmyles. |

Yeah the poor boys next to us at Mt. Hood had the fancy Japonaise ajustable thing randomly advancing then retarding on its own as the screws kept coming loose... Well, they're both tapered, at least to my eye. Never, with Suzy CreamCheese or with any of my other, fine, respectable young ladies, have I ever had an issue of deciding which end to stick in first. I'm usually a fan of lube, saliva just urns dry too quickly, but in this case, should I use a little loctite? Oh, and I've still got the pressure plate bolts from my stock Volvo stuff...they're rated at 8.8 hardness....safe to reuse these, or should I go get some gucci new bolts that are, well, harder? |

Measure with a very-near, not even I can eye them down to a thou. Just a nice gentle tap otter do. And yeah 8.8 works fine John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Just, give it a lil tapp, just tap, tap, tap it in?
Emailed Dale about the pilot bearing riddle....so I'll get back to you on that, but as I recall, it's just a 5.0L Mustang pilot bearing and no modification to the input shaft. Next time...on the LUV truck, I'll go with a Chevy S10 T5, and one of your adaptamajigs, so I can haz da shiftie in the right spot...Can u make da bellhausin for a up'n'dowwwnnnn Redblock? |
So a quick stint from my place to Sir RedwoodChair's...it was a nice ride over on the fixie!
Picked up an angle grinder, rat tail file and lunch. Sent me sailing to the Golden Gate Bridge, and pedaled my way home from there. Just a couple minutes with the rat tail file, in two of the three dowel pin holes, and pressure plate slides on, with a fist's persuasion. Maybe five minutes under the car, with the angle grinder and a drop light. My engine bay is now lighter and the flywheel is clear for spinning. It took five minutes, cause I'm slow with this stuff. No biggie, and no sweat....it's a lot easier than flycutting a piston. Ground the block so it's flush with that aluminum lower bell housing mount thing. Flywheel goes right on! Take a close look there....the flat portion of the tone ring, is basiclly dead center in the starter hole. A stock tone ring flywheel or flexplate has a alignment pin, to align with the sensor, at TDC....this SooperBitchin piece doesn't...but, if I recall, the flat portion is supposed to be at the starter. |
I'll have to check my manual when I get home, but I'm pretty sure the part with missing teeth goes to the top @ #1TDCC.
On stock flexplates (for sure) and possibly flywheels, there is an arrow that points to the side (right side?) perfectly horizontal when #1 is at TDCC. When set up this way the missing teeth should be at the top. The purpose of the missing teeth is to tell the ECU when to start the cycle all over again. It would be really strange (though not unheard of) to put the missing teeth at some offset. I would definitely check before you bolt your trans on.. I'll let you know what I find out because now you have me worried about the flywheel I just put on! Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 11/23/2011 01:58AM by Robert Culbertson. |

And whatever the bizarre asss cvase may be, the clocking of and relatuionship between the flywheel bolts and the -2 was done off the sample flex plate I had.
Now personally I would like a easily accessible and adjustable TDC SENSOR. This dealio on the flywheel seems kinda sketchy. Myles, can you post piccies of the top of the block where the TDC sensor sits or is attached? How much adjustability is there?
