John, I thought I had my tranny ratios figured out, but looking at this thread I seem to be lacking in the torque department.

I figure I can get 210 ft lbs out of my stroker Opel engine, with a 2.16 1st gear ratio (Tran-X) and a 5.29 Toyolet rear axle ratio. Works out to 'only' 2399 ft lbs in 1st gear, which seems to pale in comparison to others here. Should I be worried?

My car has to weigh 2271 lbs per the Group 2 rules...I will have to add ballast to get to that number.

No that sounds about right. what gearbox? Type9 Ford? Trabn-X (which I have solid reasons for believing are better gears than "the other place"winking smiley makes 2.25 first gearsets, maybe worth thinking about..

And somewhere earlier in that thread "DOOooooooOOODS where do you get your information?" I think i was suggesting we have to look at not so much HP/lb but ft/lb per LB. From that perspective you look good.

and no lag. tee hee!

The plans are for a T9 with Tran-X guts. I found a core locally on Craigslist, waiting for a price from the guy.

Tran-X does make a bunch of different ratios. I can get a 2.16, 2.25, 2.29, 2.38, 2.39, or 2.48 first gear (depends on the rest of the cluster). I'm gonna keep the rpms of the engine pretty low (7500) due to the stroke. No reason to rev it, all the 2.4-based CIH's make the meat of their power from 4000-6500.
