Extra Liquid Nitrogen and Death Ray for Rent
January 05, 2012 03:34PM
Hey kids, long story short (field shrink fitting a 5"OD steel shaft repair) I have about 190L of frosty cold liquid nitrogen sitting in my shop that is going to boil off in a few days if I don't use it. No time to strip the interior of my shell this week but if you have something ready to go I can supply you with a tank, hose, death ray, and a parking space in which to do damage for the low low price of $100 or maybe some really good beer. Everything is sitting in San Leandro, CA and no I won't bring it to you tongue sticking out smiley

Dogfish Head 90min IPA is a good start...Racer 5 is also acceptable. Good Tequila or Gin would not be turned away. Keep in mind the 230 litre tank was $400 to me and list price from Airgas is $950.

I can make Saturday work but it would be after 9:30AM or so.

Sounds good. Will def be after 9:30am as I've got a ham test to get done @ 8am.

Anyone have any suggestions to doing this on a GD impreza? Tools to bring along and such? Interior is already 99% out and I can pull the seats off the temp mounts when we get there.

Thanks
Jason

Chipping hammer.
Air chisel used lightly/smartly can speed along the process and/or break holes in sheet metal.

It'll be 2 of us there.. unless someone else has a car in the area they want to do.

I have an air chisel, and air if I bring my Jeep up as well, I keep seeing scraper attachments for recip saws in Lowes.. been thinking of giving those a go. Tim.. might I bother you for a place to plug in as well?

Wondering if I wouldn't be able to get off the undercoating at least around the floor pans because the floor is cold.

190L.. as in like 95 coke bottles 190L? That sounds like a TON of Nitrogen..

Think it would be enough to do more than one car in a sitting?

Want a hand gutting yours?

All you need is gloves, face protection, and a welders chipping hammer:

$7.99 at Sears

That's it.

That would require me to find a sears around here that hasn't closed up.

The last one was leveled.. just a dirt parking lot now sad smiley

At least Lowes has been pretty good with tools lately.

Oh NOEZ! The chipping hammer may look the same as at Tool Town or Harbor Freight but it has to be Sears!!!!

or the whole deal is OFF!

I have plenty of chipping hammers for you...if ya want to do it the slow way. Or I could also let you use the needle scaler with the air pressure turned down so you don't punch a whole in your shell. If you want to do undercoating bring a tarp so it's easy to clean up and your own jackstands because I don't own any.

Oooooh needle scaler.. I'm in. Been wanting one of those for a while, but can't exactly remember why right now...

Was planning on some stands. Found working on the inside of the car was easier on the back with it a bit higher anyway. Wasn't planning on a tarp, but that makes sense. I'll throw one in the trunk.
