So the point was to see if I could do it, it's rwd and utalizes a w58 celica trans, yes to being a rally car, and should be just over 2000lbs.

Niice! it didn't want to start at first (confusion) but it sounds great...

subaru ECU? did you just ignore any of the chasis inputs (door sensors , etc) ?

Well the motor hadn't ran in over a year and I think my starter is about to take a dump on me. So yeah a combo of that makes it a little grumpy to wake up. but now it fires right up no issues.

I'm actually running a full chassis and engine harness from a legacy wagon. I spent the better part of a week removing all unneeded plugs and systems from the harness. It's really the bare basics now, lights, instruments, and engine. And the best part is i don't even have a check engine light on after my swap. I mean sure, clearly there isn't a code for "hey muther fuker, i'm in the wrong car". smiling smiley

here's some pics from my build.

a entire harness in a bucket

the unused pile of wires

set up in the car

legacy cluster and headlight and wiper stalks

subaru in tank fuel pump in rx7 tank, so functioning and accurate fuel gauge

the question everyone ask, what about the clearance

stock hood clearance

looks at home in the engine bay.

Congrats on getting it started. That engine is surprisingly far back and low in the engine bay. Probably close to the length of a rotary.

Have you done the math on the weight different between a fully dressed fuel injected 13b with transmission vs. your set up?

I still think you're nuts, but to each their own. That's just unnatural. But at least it will be unique.

That's Awesome!!!! grinning smiley

I've found the subaru short intakes work best if you make any sorta 'scoop' in the front and make a box around the Cone filter. So you have a ram air, to your short intake . I did that on my STI and the cone Temp went from 105F to 74F on a day when it was 70 degrees outside. I tested with a pyrometer and the 2 tests were with in 10 minutes of each other on the same stretch of road. and same time idling before and after. i was really shocked. (but happy)

I modified the above radiator ram air intake of the STI go to into a home made "air box" basically i just recreated the subaru factory setup with out the silencer and a higher CFM capacity air filter.

Awesome! Awesome!

Tell me this car will be at rally idaho or mendocino this year!! Please ! Please ! Please !

Heres a side shot of the engine bay and the handle is showing the center line of the front wheels.

The last couple figures I found of weights of fully dressed 13bs put them in the mid 400lbs. As for the Subaru motors I could find some stuff for ej20s coming in around mid 200lbs. So I have to imagine I'm losing a good 200lbs. The trannys have to be pretty close, or at least my back tells me they are about the same.

That will be a fun car! People can talk shit all they want, but a good 2.2 engine provides alot of fun. I've wanted to do this in a Starlet for a long time.
