The front pillar of a front rollbar or of a lateral rollbar must follow
the windscreen pillars as closely as possible and have only one
bend with its lower vertical part

Well, one could argue that with a dash in, that is as close as possible.
Production class doesn't specifically say you can modify the dash does it? Then maybe it's not legal to do so? smiling smiley

Maybe if you want to be a car builder you should read the rule book just for grins...

d. It is permitted to modify interior panels and trim pieces to
accommodate fitment of the roll cage. Trim items such as visors,
armrests, interior lights, may be removed. Roll cage tubes may
run through the dash providing the dash is modified only enough
for the roll cage fitment

And that is old wording that hasn't been changed for a while (many years)...some peoples kids winking smiley

Which rulebook though Gene? There are so many these days! smiling smiley

But right after I typed that I was like, I bet there's a clause that allows modifying the dash to fit the cage...

So, what's your thought on cages of this design?

Grant,
RA rule book of course!

That cage is compliant in design, the A pillar support may be bent a bit much , hard to tell.

There are a few cage designs that are allowed but I can't fathom why you would do it, that is one of them. Reminds me of an old Jeep cage or something. I guess it might make for easier welding at the roof line.

Yeah, I mentioned to William that that bend looked a bit much. Confused as his first pics of caging Jason's car showed regular main hoop then this came later. I'd noticed it was allowed in 253 before but never thought of any reason anyone would do it. I guess it could make it easier to get a really tight fit to the a-pillar maybe? Just was wondering what you thought of it.
I've never understood the halo design. Other than not having to figure out the rotation for the half laterals I guess.

Wasn't there a second pic of that very first cage? Showed the side view better?
