My life just got more sooper-bitchin', fer sure. Received my kit yesterday. I'll probably get around to installing it sometime in the next few weeks...
I wanted to see if anyone had any piccies, tricks, etc. regarding the install. I have a talent for being able to make things that were never intended to go together "go together" and somewhat work, so I just want to make sure I do everything CORRECTLY, and not how *I* think it should be. From the looks of things, it's straight forward, but - yeah, I just want confirmation from youze all. Also-- since I know jack shit about Toyoder stuff, what oil does the diff use? GL-5 80W90 with LSD modifier? Yak fat? I dunno. (Of course, if you ask 5 people, you'll get 8 answers, so- hopefully someone with experience and a long-lived diff can speak to that?) |

Yeah Ironic how a human being might actually trust another enough to send stuff all the way across the country to make sure things get there by a certain date so some other person could go have fun..
Ironic that they may not instantly have records at they finger tips when people have one dumb name on the email, another made up name on the PayPal, their real name is something else entirely...and they send emails, and PM and call on the phone... So ironic that despite being really fucking busy making and packing and writing people who can't be bothered to send their addresses, or their full payments and me being not sure, I put a kit aside and ask if he has his (and if it was one of those rush deals that occasionally happens). Gene's finally being to figure it out, I'm just full of irony... And Gene is full of criticism. Seasonal Affected Disorder much? That was one observers guess for why every year about now Gene starts griping and shitting on me. Every year. Well honestly it might be slightly ironic that you have all the time and answers to decide what cars everyone should build, yet can't manage time to find a system to keep decent records. Not my deal.
Might be ironic that usually it is someone bugging you about sending parts the paid for a year ago. Again not my deal. Really might be ironic that you can do business on every forum but only want Braid (Paul) and the helmet info to be constrained to the For Sale forum to wit: "If this is a straight advertisement selling product, maybe it might better fit in For Sale section? May same for BRAID with the photos that jam up the whole internet, maybe? John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA" Either way, chill out. I wasn't the only one noting it, maybe you are mere mortal after all ya grumpy old fart. |

John, no worries, email sent.
It is one of the old kits. I don't have to worry about it breaking or anything right? James, I have a 3"(I think) one piece shaft. Its all custom because I'm running a t5. I have quite a lot of vibration/noise but from what I understand so does everyone who has ever put a one piece shaft on a t5 in a merk. As of this moment, I'd do it again. Everything went in at the same time so I can't really help you with your two piece. I believe mine is 48" center to center with the t5. So far so good. It has two rallies and quite a lot of shenanigans. I think I need to rebuild my diff this winter though. |

No Mark no worries in use...(I hope!) it was just trying (foolishly) to improve the design and since I'm so busy, avoid having to weld the 4 parts per side for every snout part..Too many squirmed in the jig and they worked but they weren't square and plumb every time... I could see it--slight mis -alignment, a little skewed and I made them with slightly oversize holes so they worked but for some reason I always want to improve stuff....So the snout parts were done in fat strong alloy in the CNC mill at Dave Benjamin's place in Everett... There were other subtle changes about 7 degrees subtle, and different bushes...hence the correction for the 7 degree thing. Also didya see the 2 bolts for the weld in weld nuts? 2 bolts more stable than one...
