Electric to manual window conversion
November 09, 2007 03:13PM
I want to change my electric windows that don't work (or break a month after fixing them) to manual windows. Trouble is, almost none of the cars manufactured ever came with manual windows. Its a 1990 Audi CQ, btw. I've asked breakeryard.com and they never get an answer to me.
Anyway, I was wondering how tough it would be to take the winder assembly out of some other two-door car, get some cable that would be the right length for it and just make it work. Anything?

Just replied on Special Stage. Another solution is to ask on Audiworld... see if any of the rally guys there know. Or, convert to lexan windows with sliding ports.

Also try Motorgeek... a lot of european guys hang there. Or http://www.s2forum.com/

Much engineering goes into this.

You may be opening a can of worms.

That said; Look to what we find in the VW Quantum for manual junk. You *may find a winner there.
