good eye. split and pinch bolt...set the bearing play exactly and the pinch will lock it down.

See? I told you I don't care what anybody else says, you're pretty sharp.

I usually have seen that style of bearing preload nut on air-cooled VWs. Pretty awesome way of doing it, if you know how to set bearing PREload.

That nut looks like it would be good for critical points and for things that are known for working loose… well with an above average frequency compared with the rest of the car. First thing that came to mind is the bolts holding the shocks to the axle on the shock towers you push so hard. Would they be better than a nyloc nut? I also could see these being easier to remove if they get shredded to shit and you can no longer get a combination wrench on them.

Sharp… i dunno schools been making my head feel pretty squishy these days!

No the shocks is a perfect example of the ways life is spossed to work. Torque the fawk outta it. Nylock, done

The front nut there you set it to like 4-6 INCH/lbs or 'bout that much more than a guy your age can do with thumb and forefinger sqeeezin---before you got a girlfreind----and that's not very tight!
Then move just enough to drop a pin thru to prevent movement..Sucks giant donkey dongs.

Too loose by a smidge and the bearings don't make full contact and you kill things, too tight and the fuckers die and you roast them outta the hubs and fawk up the spindle..

There ARE solid spacers that go between the inner bearing things, the fine tune the preload with shims......and I was set to be making some under contract for a friend and suddenly this place became a haven for screaming the praise of E36 M3s and lectures about Volvos are "obsolete" and that I am an idiot for suggesting them...
And a lotta guys aren't posting

And now we get tweets and FB updates---spam in essence.

I have/had a girlfriend? this is news to me!

I don't post on here as of late cause most of my time is spent trying not to fuck up school. Which is proving to be difficult. Oh one interesting thing about school... I have a machining class next semester and apparently there is no issue going in there outside of class...

That is assuming I make it to the next semester.
