So.... it wasn't the pinion seal, it was just covered with fluid from the trans output seal. Fluid inside the trans looked like green-gold nail polish. So did the engine oil. Changed the oil, drove 5hr to WV, and then this happened.

Finished the remainder of my runs alternately bouncing off of the 10,2k rev limiter in 1st or lugging at 3k in 3rd, feeling a lot like that time Jari-Matti Latvala lost 2nd and 3rd in his Escort but kept going anyway,

then limped the car 2.5hr to where my Volvo was residing because it was not about to make it the 4hr home, while watching the oddly behaving oil pressure gauge.

Hooray for solid axles. Let's see an IRS articulate like that.

Fucked up the rearend again. It has a Trac-Lok in it now ever since the Detroit Locker got broken enough that it would start to disengage under power. But now the bearings are fragged again and the thing is howling and spitting fluid out the pinion seal. I am thinking that for now I'll just slam some 100W350 gear paste into the thing and hit send. This is the last year for the car because the modded floor will no longer be legal to compete with without a roll cage, and I ain't caging this car and expecting to be able to fit inside.

I must have missed the info about your modified floorpan. Or forgotten-as I'm old and forget shit like mad...

You lowered it for head/helmet clearance? How much room did you gain?

So SCCA is changing the rallyx rules about modified floorpans? I hadn't seen that....that sucks.

You won't fit with a cage? How tall are you? But I guess that's kind of a moot point as some of us are all torso and some all legs..so how tall are you and what is inseam length?

Perhaps that will give a better idea.

Don't know if you plan to sell the beast..but let me know if ya do.

I (and/or) my son might be interested. I'm 6'5" with 34" inseam so if I'm doing this right I have approx 43" torso height.

Son is 6 foot tall with 32" inseam so 40" torso height. He picked up an fc recently(with sunroof unfortunately)for a track build and he fits pretty well but man is it tight for me-I can see how a cage would be a nogo.

But He's been eyeballing first gens though for a dirt car..and neither of us is adverse to bad financial decisions and dragging more junk home...

Also I sent you a pm but it doesn't show in my sent...I don't think pms work anymore here...

The car is 3 linked, the rear tunnel is cut out and boxed over and the link attaches to the top side of the driveshaft tunnel. Passenger floor area is untouched.

6'4ish with 35" inseam. I fit with a helmet but barely. No way in hell would I pass a broomstick test with a cage.
