Hoosier Rally Tires

We work with Hoosier for many other projects, and have heard from them for the last three years that these tires were coming. The Tarmac tire is in production and being shipped, though they are currently all going to Europe. The Gravel tire has been in testing and the final groove pattern has been developed and a mold is being made. Preproduction tires should be seen testing early this year and with any luck, production tires should be available by mid year.

I saw this tire in person at both SEMA and PRI this year.


Hoosier sent us this pic of the hand grooved development Gravel tire and gave us the go-ahead to share it.

Part of me wonders if Hoosier is branching out into new markets because it seems like all the roundy-round guys have switched to American Racer.

I want some LC0 compound rally tires. They would be the hot ticket for about a mile.

realizing that most modern gravel tire patterns are pretty similar, I can't help but think that those look an awful lot like the "new" maxxis tire...

Jason plead with them to make a 15" with 62cm Diameter and about 14cm across the tread contact patch..That would be about 12cm sidewall height..Light and narrow enough for cars under 200 hp..

John, they plan on three widths/heights but as far as I know, only one carcass has been used for testing so far.

And on the unidirectional, my guess is that if you are on a very tight budget, Hoosiers will not be your best choice.

Non-directional would be fantastic, but having a different inner-vs-outer pattern would be ok. I happen to really like the Yoko A-O35's, for instance.

Failing that, the Michelin L is pretty OK. The Silverstone knock-off of that pattern works pretty well too, although IMO the Silverstones aren't as good. That's probably mostly because the carcasses weigh a lot more though.

Deeper "suction cups" than the Maxxis ones would help with both grip and longevity.

If you have any say in the matter, please please please have them provide 14"s.

Seems like with Hoosiers you always have to know a guy to get a reasonable price. Its like buying a car, never pay full price for Hoosiers.

Uh...it's not quite that simple. There're good reasons to stick with 14's when your car was designed for 14"s.
