I didn't ruin this thread...
Thanks for the Billy Joel earworm... argh.

This thread started out ruined because the OP, 'Jake611', didn't bother filling out his(her) real name and location in his(her) profile.
Not to mention 'Vorpal_Rally' also missing the information that adds accountability to his(her) comments.

I've been lurking here for a while, and there is something to be said for not hiding behind 'handles'

That is a topnotch build! Porblem with it is its made to go thru the dessert fast! STPR is not the dessert and that truck will NOT go as fast as an EVO on a stage road. Perdy piccies wont make the top heavy did i say heavy truck as fast as a rally car in rally car conditons. Rally car conditons meaning guys built over the years the FASTEST car for the conditions and that beatiful built truck does not fall into those conditons. So yes i will take your 6 pac! And if you want i will even anti up a 30 pac if I loose!

I finally looked at this thread. Sigh. John, this is your final warning. Ruin another thread and you will be banned.

Hey Grant, I didn't ruin this thread, I simply asked GENERALLY if anybody gave any thought that this was a made up name and made up thread just for shits and giggles---ya know just like you and some of your friends used to do over on SS.com??

.

I understand this now. I thought (and no I was not drinking last night, I thought for a few that JVL was calling ME a troll or a shit-stirrer.. ) I was just trying to take it back down a notch... please. Peace to all.

I respect JVL and his knowledge and experience is undeniable.. but my opinion is that is can COME OFF AS a big mean 'ol internet bully.. and homie don't play that, not me. Don't tell me something I want to do with money I've sweated for is bullshit, if I'm too ignorant or take the advice respectfully and then do it anyway.. no.

Anyone having any 'internet respect for me' is very suspect, because I don't know shit from shinola, compared to a bunch of people on here/or SS for that matter ... I'm ok with that, but hey y'all, let me pick y'alls rally-brains a while occasionally...

cause I'm the guy that is not a millionaire, but wants (back) in badly, damn all the reason-torpedos

..and doesn't EVERY event organizer/ big rally nut want that ?!

ok, yeah, I get a little windy too.

Sincerely,

Yours in Sport,

Comprehension requires reading. Once I see you posting I stop reading typically anymore. It's become the same yelling over and over it seems. I no longer care to comprehend.

Too bad your lack of reading, and attendant lack of comprehension doesn't stop you from blaming people.. Whatever, details..

All this feistyness has got my juices flowing, fuck it I'm building a rally truck. No seriously I am, 3.0 Ford Ranger bone stock. No fancy lsd, no fancy green shocks no fancy fuck all. Strip it, cage it, rally it, all for the princely sum of less than 10k CDN. Do I give a shit if I'm not on one of the three steps, nope because it's all about the smiles per mile. learnt to drive in a 1100cc Mk1 Escort sideways on dirt, this is the closest I can get for little cost. Fun people thats why we started doing this crazy sport, going sideways without hitting the trees and giggling like a school girl. Thats why we rally!!!

Yes, it's a Ranger.
Xr4Ti, it is rwd and was made in Germany.

OMG where the fuck is my flame-resistant suit, rofl.

How much would you want from me for me to be able to put a sticker on your new rally truck ?

Trucks have been done- 70's ProRally jeeps are cool to me. And some guy back in the day ran a full-size OJ Bronco at something If I saw that right somewhere... I think there was a guy ran Rally de Paris in a Mighty Max or something.. there's tons more.. but with all the spaceage goodies that must be available now... sheeeeeiut. its gotta be crazy. I don't even want to look, like why I do not torture myself by test-driving new cars... cause I'd want it, and I need to focus.

Good luck.

Ok, gentlemen's agreement : Your choice of 30pack- (please don't say Stroh's, but I will take it) vs. my 6-pack of moonshine jars or something pleasing and not blindness-inducing lol. Hold out hand without spitting on my own hand, never understood that one...

all we need is to get Robbie Gordon to come to STPR with a truck to take on Diggins or even Miggins, idc ...

Stranger things , they have happened

I would ask double-or-nothing if Robbie is in front but throws it all away by rolling it into a
Pen of hogs and then then punches a photographer and gets in his helicopter and flies to Dover without signing any autographs. Rofl ..

Consult your proctologist..
.. All bets with me are null n void if someone backs over a B-Spec car in a rally truck.. Just sayin

Heeheee. I'd be happy to ship you beer to see this. On Velocity or History channel

, either one.

Ive always wanted to try Tim Smiths moonshine from moonshiners! Sounds like a deal to me. Okay let me make a few calls to Robbie and see if he is in for a little venture at stpr!lol I wish!

Im all for build what you like. Im just not a truck fan for rally. Dessert racing I would build a truck for sure. Sliding around on back roads not so much. to much body roll for me. Any body compared times from GRC and Gordons trophy trucks? Its not even close racing time wise. GRC would lap the leader in the trucks! Just saying!

Actually, I think that truck was built for rallying, albeit desert rallying (nitpick: it's desert, with one "s". "Dessert" is what you eat after dinner). Jim was pretty quick in it back in the day - I think he was second overall at Prescott one year. Jeff has been alternately quick and midpack, depending on how much seat time he's had recently.

And you all are forgetting about Bill Holmes, who's been running what is essentially a 1973 F150 for years and has embarrassed quite a few Open AWD cars, usually regional guys. A top-notch AWD car with a good driver can usually pull away from him though, and I and a few other guys have been able to beat him on tight and twisty stuff with lowly Golfs and similar things. However, it's kinda rare and takes just the right road conditions. He's got a lot of power and a ridiculous amount of travel, but the thing is massive and weighs 6000lbs or something. And neither his nor Jeff's truck were cheap.

I also wonder what you consider to be a 1967 F150? You can get Ford 9" rears brand new. You can weld on any number of fairly robust suspension bits. You can get a near infinite different kinds of engines of varying quality and HP, all as a bolt-in. You can get quickshifting trannies. You can move the cab forward and back on the framerails, and get all kinds of fiberglass shapes to make it look however you want. So, at what point is it not a 1967 vehicle? For instance, I don't think there's anything left from 1973 on Bill's truck except maybe the framerails. So is it still a 1973 F150?

I'm not a big truck fan, but they do work well in some situations. Do I think that they (or any 2WD car) can keep up with the top-level AWD cars? No. But in the right hands they can put up a pretty good fight.

Considering there were zero, none, not a single F150 built in 1967, or in 1973, you're going to
have a really tough time putting one on stage...

This is very true.....

I didn't bother to post in this thread before because the OP was very obviously a troll, but yeah 1967 half ton Ford Truck would be an F100.

I had a 1967 F100in the 80's-it was my DD for years-2wd shortbed.
Pulled the 352 boat anchor(but it had some serious low-end and wouldn't die!) and cast iron cruise-o-matic out and built a 429 and C6 for it.

A spooled 9" went in when the spicer 44(before they called them dana's!) with power lock finally grenaded.

Then I went old-school budget prerunner(Before the Brah's with $$$$$ Trophy truck clones came about)on it.. autofab cut and turned beams and dual Dotesch tech shocks in front..nothing fancy.

Rearched the rear springs and added a leaf with upgraded shocks...

Lee manufacturing quick ratio Steering box,and high volumne pump and cooler, a couple beard seats, and art carr type shifter and done!

Truck was reliable reasonably quick for what it was..and i ran it for years in the fireroads above my house and dirt Mulholland as fast as i could.

On paper twin I beam is horrible..big camber and caster change..but it's durable and simple and It just works..

Bill Holmes was my hero back then..I had his old truck on the Ford Electronics poster on my wall.

Would of loved to have my truck set-up like his was..but..I really just had a stockish truck..

And it's weight bias..just bad.
Correcting understeer was just a throttle stab away..but that didn't help traction when I wanted to go forward...

I haven't hit a rally stage yet but I've definitely gone faster on gravel roads in a car than that truck ever went-as decent as it did go for what it was...and I miss it.
