If you want to play on gravel roads, the 2.3 is fine. Pull the head and mill it 060 and get a cam,
a nasty cam. Give it fuel and then think about shorter axle ratio..

And then get adult sized tires suitable for the car not silly shit like in the photos which are flat idiotic.

Decide what you want to do: play on gravel and grass o cross or play Baja truck?

Since I saw "convertible" I didn't bother reading , is this thing manual trans?

A donor car?
See the whole convert thing means it can never be a even half-serious play car..No wawwy-cwoss, no rally...

So I'm confused what the ultimate goal is...then those piccies of morphodite crap with monstrous tires further confuses thing.

Oh unique. Nobody ever wanted to do something unique..
Well do something unique then.

Or keep it Ford with this all alloy 32 V DOHC V8 from

Look at he cutaway..32V DOHC V8 all alloy

Lookie:
The Ford GAA engine is an all-aluminum, 32 valve, DOHC, 60-degree V8 engine produced by the Ford Motor Company during World War II. It featured twin Stromberg NA-Y5-G carburetors,[2] dual magnetos and twin spark plugs making up a full dual ignition system,[2] and crossflow induction.[3]

The GAA was used to power several models and derivatives of the M4A3 Sherman tank. The engine displaces 1,100 in3 (18 l) and puts out over 1000 ft lbs of torque from idle to 2600 rpm. Maximum rated horsepower was 525@2800 rpm though most models were rated at 450 hp.

Unique!
