Hydration Pack mounting
March 06, 2015 02:36PM
Doing little things in the off season while the car is in the back corner of the garage. Time to address hydration! I mounted a couple of bike bottle carriers to the door bars last year which have been doing okay, but we both run closed face helmets so bottles only work when we've got time to take the helmets off.

What are folks doing to mount a hydration pack? Do folks use a backpack style permanently mounted to the cage/seat and then swap out the bladders or something simpler? Is there a particular style of bag that works better? Any recommended brands with a long enough tube to comfortably reach the harnesses?

I see Sparco has a neat design that velcros around the belt passthroughs but I'm sure that also has the Sparco tax for what's basically a $30 Camelbak inside.

I just loosen my shoulder straps on my camelback and hang it off the shoulder wings on the seat. I have a little clip with a Velcro strap I use that keeps the mouth piece on my belt

I have my crew hand bottles to my codriver to keep in the navi bag and we just get new ones every service. Camelbacks strapped to the main hoop are kind of PITA to refill and the suckin' tube always seems to end up dragging on the floor in the dirt.

This has worked really well for me over the years.

Hmm, I like those with the hoop clips. Lots of mounting options there.
