Good source for weld nuts?

I'm looking for just a handful or two of weld nuts(?) for my harnesses. Anyone have a good source for smaller quantities online? The plans to use the plates already welded in from my old seat mounts, drill through, weld these in and bolt the harnesses in. Thinking 12x1.50 outta work eh? Any info would be great! Thanks!

Most seat belt bolts have been 1/2in NF in my experience. I used these with a 1/2-fine nut TIG welded to the backside of a 4inx4in backer. The washer I used on the inside with another nut to keep the eyes from rotating.

Also, Grant may have something in that size. I know he has weld nuts listed on his website somewhere.

Hold up: Weld the nut on the backside of the plate or the cabin side of the plate? One is much safer than the other.

For the harness I believe there is a minimum requirement of 7/16 UNF.
No point to make life hard.

The plates are already welded in. They are the plates that I originally had the seats mounted to, long story, had to cut the mounts out and lower them about 4". Thought was to drill a hole and weld in flanged inserts and not just a nut or something. The weld would be on the cabin side, to the plate that is also on the cabin side. Not such a good idea?

I'm not a fan of welding the nuts so they are on the cabin side. It puts the weld nut in tension and greatly reduces the strength to rip it off. Run it by a scrutineer or check out the rule book, that might give you an immediate answer.

"These inserts must be positioned in the reinforcement tube
and the straps must be attached to them using bolts of M12
8.8 or 7/16UNF specification.
Each anchorage point must be able to withstand a load of

for shoulder straps), the load considered must be equal to
the sum of the required loads.
For each new anchorage point created, a steel
reinforcement plate with a surface area of at least 40 cm2

Plate and nut on the backside of the sheet metal from image, or it has to take 1470 decaN/3300lbs. If you use an eyelet to mount the belts, you have more stress as the plate/mount/nut is being peeled off from the added leverage with the same load.

Thank you for the reply Mr.Culbertson. I'd emailed Mike Hurst a week or so ago but haven't heard back. Figured I'd run it by you guys as well. It's not an ideal way to do, figure work with what I have already available. If it's the general consensus that it's a bad idea, I'll figure something else out.

I recall reading in the rule book(might have been FIA actually,) that belt and seat mounts can't be shared. Does that mean you can't anchor to the seat bolts themselves or the actual cross bars welded in between the tunnel and the sill?
