Rally Car:
I have two crap boxes

I have two Bimarco grips. I'm 6'2" ish but it's allllllll torso. 185lbs with a 34 waist. I'd buy another set in a heartbeat. I could see it being a little tight on someone a bit wider. Comfortable enough to fall asleep in. The only drawback to them is trying to see around them on transit or occasionally hitting your kidneys on them getting in or out of the car. I wouldn't put a slider in any rally car. As far as the seat being safe, it's FIA rated. I'm no expert but it seems to me that by the time this seat ends up breaking and causing you injury you probably have some bigger problems on your hands such as things that have already failed like mounting hardware, roll cage, gas tank, etc, etc. I also have a removable steering wheel that I don't need to use to get out or in.

the real trick is getting sparco american to fit in a fox body

too fat can be fixed, but too tall is not as easy

silders are currently an no go in CARS... your sanctioning body may vary...

All this hullabaloo about head wings and slamming into your "co-driver" (as may be the case) seems hoeky to me.

if we're going into a tree together, we're going together. we're not on different trajectories.

side wings may help, but man they make entrance and more importantly exit hell with a hans on (don't fawking tell me yer hans hasn't hooked something getting out of the car at least once. )

I'm slow...and may be the harbinger of anti-safety, but i work "at height" all day long, and safety crap goes overboard more often then not. I'd rather climb in a boot I'm comfortable with than one that might protect me from the 1-100000 chance of me cutting a toe with a chainsaw...

Yeah I agree with you there. We decided as we were talking in the shop today that we're going to go with the non wing seats for comfort and drivability. I've heard several people now say it's a pain.

Thanks Jon, man we couldn't be more thrilled with it especially after your thumbs up. Its still at American Motorsport for a few gussets and possibly dimple steel for the door bars if I remember right? But so soon! I'll hopefully have that donor car in the garage this week to get bits and pieces... need muffler extensions for smog... seats, foam, bright lights, some safety stuff, and we're ready to rock.

Tires? A log book? Or a paid entry fee?

Car looks great. Good luck getting it finished and out on the stages.

Suspension?! I need all that, by no means a comprehensive list... now the nerdy powerpoint I made for the boys on Friday night, while we drank beer and wrote a page of things to ask Jon- that was a list! The rally is at the beginning of October, so we have a list of stuff that needs to be done OR ELSE, then a list of stuff that needs/we want to be done. For instance, the car has a suspension... just not a great one. But with a couple of months to go we may need to put that off, learn from this year as best we can, and improve the build for next year.

You have been given big hints that perhaps just maybe the priorities you, a non rally guy---are what seems to be exactly reversed from what most experienced rally prep guys advise.

And even bigger hints in the repetition of "First things first" and "horses for courses".

Oh well.
I tried.
