Ok so for Subaru 4 pot/2 pot calipers, (I dunno what the piston size is and the cars an hour away) what size master cylinders should I be getting (Willwood stuff). Also what are peoples thoughts on no bias control? My thoughts are that its unnecesary for a gravel car. I should know this stuff but I usually rely on doing things by eye, Intuition and just plain ripping off other peoples KNOWN good set-ups.

Well the Sub-a-rat 4 pots I looked at---and bet Dave Clark a nickle, and won---were 2 x 38mm and 2 x 41.27mm in front, and bet another nickle and won that the rear was 2 x 38mm.

You might try to start at .7 front and .75 rear.
That's what Ford used when using calipers that size.

And that depends some on the pedal ratio.

As for the balance bar, look youse gotta mod the pedal anyway, why not have the balance bar?
I dun't stink you need to be constantly fiddling with the balance ONCE you get it set where you like, but it can help to get er right then leave it.
Also lets you back off the front a bit for snow.

You converting?
You might want to seriously stink aboooot strengthening the firewall, most OEM firwalls are wimpey and when you loose the booster, you will push more and its shocking how much they typically flex.

Oh, let me know if you need some parts for this, OK? (Masters, balance bar etc)

Those are the sizes that I used on our GC8 with dual masters. I'm running stock single(without booster) on the current WRX.

We cut a hole and welded a plate we bought from some roundy-round shop in there and then bolted it to it.

Cheers! John

I have a proportioning valve plumbed in line to the rears, and it makes an AMAZING amount of difference in how the car handles under braking. From "the rear wheels will never lock up ever" to "uh, why am i sideways now?" I usually set it on the shake down stage and then leave it.

For the $100, it's my favorite money I've spent on the car.

when I posted this I was thinking of the dual master set-up that was done on my shop owners car. I forgot that he converted to a pedal box with integrated balance bar. I was thinking that brake fluid was just going wherever it liked on that car. I just like things that I can't fuck up by adjusting things that don't need adjusting. If someone gives me fancy buttons and dials I gotta touch them. I think that's the beautiful simplicity in my Soooper Bitchin suspenders: they just work the way the're supposed to. John, wheres my uber cool, dashboard mounted, high and low speed damping knob? smiling smiley
