After talking with Derek Nelson, it seems that the adjusters are there to help fine tune the car. He did a bunch of testing and eventually just went back to the factory settings. So just going with the non-adjustable club version is probably a great way to save some $$. Aren't most of the expensive Reiger 4wd struts also using the drop control, roll control, and hydraulic bump stop fancy wizardry? |

Or original plan on the Compact was a 10" travel Fox Racing shock. I don't know that I think attempting ti maximize possible travel is the best fire a clubman car. Plenty if people the world over seem fine with stock location upper mount and near stock travel.

I for one an actually surprised how much the e36 chassis suspension travels. It looks like plenty of room for fine-tuned equipment (if thats what you have). Personally as long as I dont die from a jump(mostly refering to the cattle gaurd at 100aw) or roll over from turning, I will call the suspension a success. ha Be excellent to each other |

Hintz's Reigers were in the $5000 range, triple adjustable. Not including rear springs, though, as we were going with a stock rear spring setup. Dave dealt direct with Reiger and the turnaround time for repairing the insert that was damaged when the front control arm broke was quite good.

Except spares.. Plus maybe another $400 for freight, 2,3% customs, $200 maybe for a Formal Entry amd maybe $50 for a bond.. Pretty crazy total for just having some fun 4000 EURO.....Approx $4300......About 2x what it costs for suspension you can win on... Naw you're set, and you're not exerting yourself TRYING to find an excuse to spend way way waaaaaaaaaay more that anybody in USA can really utilise. I mean I want to find some vids of cars in 2016 ambling , trundling thru corners, engines right off idle at 1800 rpm, 2 second lightning gearchanges---and then be told people need to spend so much they have NO SPARES... There is one word for that: foolish And look who are the big advocates of spending the crazy money...guys who are reccomending OTHERS to spend lots.. We are happy amateurs here right up to the guys in 2nd OA---20 minutes behind Higgins... You boys may fool yourself that you NEED! $4000 for shock/strut set. but you hain't fooling anybody else. I just checked the receipt from Reiger on the Xratty set.
The quote on the 5062 dampers were 1100 Euro each (triple adjustable), need 2. The rear coilover shocks (4616) were $652 Euro with adjustable reservoirs. All said and done it was $3700 Euro shipped (No customs tax), and the conversion was ~ $1.10 USD to 1 Euro when they were purchased.

And somebody smacks a YUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGE rock and fawks up a strut or a shock...can you get your spares installed in 20m service.. Of course you have spares...don't you? How much travel front? Well before I had oldish style GrN 52 mm Proflex dampers and they are very stout. Never had any spares. Ran 2 years on them 14 rallies. Had some offs and rough rock impacts. Never bent anything.
Typical maintanace is $900 year to regrease, change seals and fill oil and nitrogen. Now they need some teal rebuild and top insert changed and hoses are leaking. But that is years without real full rebuild I got Reigers - full shebang... Did this year few rallies. They are amazing. Springs are softer - more body control. They take a beating very well. So far no maintanace except cleaning. Againg no spares needed. If you brake these - belive me your car has far more damages elsewhere. I have seen these stuffed into a firewall after impact . Need no repairs . Amazing. And Reigers for BMW are using spring ratios almost as soft as stock OEM. Its all on damper now Rear on BMW gets 21cm travel thats is limited by suspension. I think around 19-20 cm is max without turrets.
I tend to keep a set of stock dampers in my spares. If it's bad enough that I am replacing a damper, I can be okay with limping on with the stock setup. Few people are rallying long enough to be worrying too much about rebuilding their dampers. Those that are rallying enough can probably afford a rebuild. International freight is oddly often both faster and cheaper. I ordered some FK bearings on Amazon Prime on Saturday. On Monday I ordered a set of top mounts from Europe that already include a bearing. The european ones showed up today. It is cheaper to ship a pair of race seats from the UK to Denver then it is to ship a pair of race seats from Denver to Portland. I pay the same amount to ship a wheel via Fedex Air from Italy as I do to ship a wheel anywhere domestically except maybe Nebraska. Of course, it's probably exorbitantly more the opposite direction to ship from the US to Europe though I guess less chance of shipment delays due to striking DHL workers in Deutschland.
