If you're going to plumb in a cooler, then plumb in a cooler.. The Volvo turbo size I used on street 1700 "fairly warmed up" V4s. Worked good For my own might V4 I used a Jag oil cooler same H and Thick as Volvo but another 4 rows...but that is still a little V4 making less poop than the turd-boat Lima.. Point is maybe you want something a tad larger for sustained bewst type powerz..maybe.. Maybe sumpin more along the lines of this: 
or maybe say Mercedes diesel size--but thats a little welding to get easy AN fittings on it... No maybe is you want a trustworth oil temp gauge which I like to put in the filter head so I see the oil temp coming back from the cooler---which is what the engine gets.. Like I did here: 
And that's where I take oil off to feed the turbo..again turbo is doubtless much happier getting nice cool oil than from back of the head.... Well I know it seems to be nit-picking---it seems you would have an oil temp gauge so rather than saying to yourself "That seems fine" you could say "275* ! YIKES!!! woe is me! I was very deliberate in my use of the word seems. Oil temp gauge was never hooked up for rallycross. |
