We had a joke about that yesterday

I might rock it this way for a little bit, probably for the Prarie City Rallysprint at the end of next month that I am hoping to make - but eventually I would like to throw it in the booth and paint the whole thing in the same white as the rest of the tub. I already have the paint booth offered to me, and my sponsor [bought me the seats and other safety equipment] is used to me running nice looking cars so I will doll it up eventually for his & her sake.

Oh hey it's been a minute

First off, screw photobucket - I'll update the picture eventually over to imgur

The car is running and [almost] driving. Just need tires and a steering wheel welded on.

I put the teeth gnashing, 80 hp/110 tq D24 diesel six cylinder from a 245 Diesel I bought [sold it to a friend for an LS swap] in it, mated to an M46 with a 4.11 1030 in the back.

That engine will go back out once I go through inspections, and in goes the real engine winking smiley

Last week I swapped out the axles and hubs for redrilled 5x114 stuff [with ARP studs pressed and welded in place]

The wheels are Method MR502'S, 15X7, et15, 67mm hub bore. Aside from the hub bore being 2mm too big they are PERFECT for a 240. Super convenient to have a reasonably priced [$160/wheel] readily available wheel option

Brake system is 100% plumbed now too

Looks good and nearly ready for some fun! Tempting to go the 5x114 route. The standard alloy volvo rims are not the most robust things. Well atleast the 5 spoke virgos. Hopefully what I got now is better but I am not going to hold my breath.

Meant to ask did you end up redrilling rotors or finding something else to fit with the re drilled hubs and axles?

Olympus!

But I am trying to have it done by early April to do some gravel testing with around here and to put some street miles on the drivetrain to work out any issues.

I would like to maybe do some research and find out if there is anything that might work that I don't have to redrill but I think the long term goal is two piece rotors with 5x114 hats and Alcon calipers. For now I have a few sets of stock redrilled rotors.

Yup still dragging ass on this

Engine bay is pretty much all together. Cranked it over the other night and got a grumble out of it, but did not go much further because of a fuel leak that I need to rectify, plus no exhaust [plus neighbors at 11 pm]

I still need to wrap a bunch of the wiring in the engine bay too now that I know it all works.

Dash is all together. I pulled it back out though because I need to find a way to get the steering column a tad more centered as well as rewiring a few things, again.

Got a few parts when I was in Washington DC last week. Most of the stuff will go in when I swap axles after I get some driving/breaking in done with a non locked axle with a non race gear ratio.

My friend Gary cut some underbody protection out of starboard.

I gave Gary a couple of stock door panels and he cut some ABS sheets for me which are now trimmed. I still need to fasten them to the door and a few other things [adding map pockets, a grab handle, etc]

Gary had a scrap piece of lexan he gave me, which I turned into an adjustable spoiler. Still need to add hinges to the sides and maybe add more supports but it is pretty sturdy.

I was hoping to get the car ready for Tour De Forest next month [I said that about Olympus, too] but it's not going to happen. I think I could still do it, there's just things to contribute to my anxiety [credit card debt, lack of proper registration to drive it on the road which is kind of neccessary, lack of testing, borrowing a truck/trailer] I dont want on my mind the first event.

Making a new plan to drive it over the winter, try and break things, do the Prarie City rallycross and save a bunch of money up to run OTY and Olympus, and if all goes well, more ARA events next year.

Figured I would throw an update on here.

Car has been running and driving for a few weeks now. It's not without issue however. I need to pull the oil pan off and straighten it out/figure out where the oil is coming from [it's either the pan or RMS] and while I am in there I am putting a fully rebuilt WC-T5 with a .80 5th gear. The trans it has now feels a little chonky going into third and I feel like it would be a better backup for both this car and my Lemons car. Besides that, it pulls like a freight train up to 15 lbs. I'm going to lower it to 10 to avoid breaking stuff. Very happen with how the engine combination [B23FT bottom end, RSI stage II 530 head, LH 2.2 w/breakerless ignition] is running.

We are going to get it all set up this weekend with the new trans, new diff [completely refreshed 1030 w/4.56, spartan locker and crush sleeve eliminator] as well as new bearings/hubs up front and new brakes all around. Going to break it in sometime next week with a ton of street driving, and maybe some hard tossing at my friends property.

I was entered in the Olympus Rally but it would have been a disaster if I tried to run it. I've reorganized and should be ready for Oregon Trail.

Also before anyone asks, yes this thread did slightly inspire the paint scheme.
