some recent (relatively) upgrades (lots of pictures)

I took a bunch of pictures at the shop yesterday, feel free to constructively criticize this stuff:

Cool wheel scrapers-added after a brake line failure due to debris in the rear:

Front frame horn reinforcement/upper strut top reinforcement/crossmember - added after taking out a front framehorn on a relatively minor off, strut tops were reinforced after ovalizing 1/4" thick mild steel on some rough sections

added handbrake and rear bias valve-just for fun

steering quickener - more better control

Added braces to Cascad Autosport built subframe after bending both front frame horns up slightly

wrapped frame horns in steel and added small tubes to reinforce front frame horns

Reinforced Oil pan after significant damage at LSPR's Echo Lake Stage...

Exhaust protection/underbody protection:

Just trying to fix stuff that we break so that we don't break the same thing again.

Hey your brake reducer really should be plumbed in BEFORE the handbrake master.
That way when you crank it down and want to reduce rear brakes, and stomp on the brakes with your big fat foot, you do reduce the rear brakes and change the balance BUT when you yank on the handbrake you still get UNREDUCED handbrake powah!

See?

Do you have any problems with the passenger Axel touching those reinforced frame horns?

Nicely done top mounts, I should have upgraded the ones on my scirocco that way.

He has some crap Bilsteins. He's been offered some 4-5 event old Sooper Bitchin 41mm stuff that would be a nice upgrade but hasn't bitten.

Need something for your 'rocco?

Do I need... yes. Can I afford... no.

Got engaged, kid on the way... unless they're a smokin deal I'd have to pass.

Hey JVL, your 41mm stuff is crap Bilstein stuff too!

Tom B, my question to you is how you got past the RA Scrutineers with a long dual outlet downpipe and no cat?

Wilson

Suspension: we are running the old Bilstein rally struts for a golf I (rabbit), they work alright, but we need to find something with more travel, but I think this may wait until the next car....we'll see

Frame Horns: the driver's side axle does not hit, the passenger side does (as you can see from the picture), its a slight graze at maximum droop, I figure it will machine itself clear fairly soon, we haven't bent the frame horns with the reinforcement done.

Cat: The car is a 77 and is a pre-cat car, so no catalyist is required
