So this is some kind of lemon racing or something? ''a regional racing series that featured $500.00 Rat Trap Cars'' sez the caption under the video.

BTW good for you if you swapped 3 rear ends without replacing bearings. I would rather install new ones and quit thinking about it given the price of bearings vs the risk of DNF for something as stupid as ''i though these were gonna tuff the run...'' kind of attitude.

Oh! and this:

'' I've had at least 5 packages shipped from Sweden this year. The most expensive was $70, and it had 6 control arms, a header, and 2 sets of OS valves.''

kinda hard to believe...

Vince what was the quote for a header alone that you where thinking about?

Ah yes, I forgot to add in the price of the bearings.... so that's ~$50 usd? Puts my estimate at slightly over $400 if you use a locker. It's well below that if you just weld it up instead.

What's the price to swap in a Toyota rear end? Like real price. Give me a break down.

I don't know what to tell ya man. The first header I bought from Sweden was $265-270 to my front porch. Shipping is not as much as you think.

This bullshit again?

The quote for the header (with actual proof):

http://www.kyrkmotorsport.se/gallery_20.html
1595 SEK

Quote for shipping :
2069 SEK

Total 3664 SEK= 555,220 CAD

Man, how can you be so certain people want to hear anything about what you think?

It took you 8 years, a lot of time and money to finish one lemon race?

And technically you were disqualified, so you did fuckall.

And you still give advice to people?

What the actual fuck man??!!

Wait, so taking advice from two people who have never done a rally is better?
Wait again, you're arguing that because I didn't quote it in CAD I'm a liar and wrong? GTFO man.
Also, still waiting on the real cost of swapping a toyota diff in a volvo 240 from you two....

KL Racing has an 8v header for 1795 SEK, $211 USD. That header was $270 USD to my doorstep. Others have also bought them for the same price +/- $5. I don't know what to tell you Vince.... maybe buy it elsewhere that offers a better deal on shipping?

Also also, get your timelines right. That race was back in 2011.....

Some of us live on the west coast and have jobs that require us to actually work throughout the day. I can usually post once and a while when I'm taking a dump, but that's about it.
So not a mic drop?

i can't speak for a dana axle but an 8.8 is pretty affordable
jegs has a complete yukon gear rebuild kit for $130. gears from $160. lsd from $200. you can buy a rear end with an LSD used for $200. new fpp rebuild parts run about $75.

so for $200 rear end used explorer or mustang
$75 lsd kit
$130 rebuild kit axle
total $405 with free shipping in the usa, not sure about canada

of course an better lsd will cost more
new trac-lok $260
Torsen $556
T2R $780 the way to go, but pricy !

can we move on now?

There's a build thread somewhere on the forum, most questions have been asked there.
It's currently the thread underneath this one.

The 8.8 is another option and common to swap into Volvo's that are making serious torque, and the OEM diff is nice since the preload doesn't wear off after just a few rallies (I'm looking at you mk3 Supra diff with the Weir kit...)

But dang are those things heavy!
