  • Cage was a t45 kit from custom cages
  • Suspension is reiger I got on a deal
  • it's staying with the 1.8L M42 for now
  • I have a Link standalone for it

Finishing up the seat mounts. Almost did that today, but ran out of MIG wire. Then the last major welding thing will be the reinforcement kit for the rear end. Then I can paint the interior and start putting things back together

Good news, in 3 weeks i can start to knock out some stuff. I'll update soon, but plan to get this car done this summer. Also will be using a K24A (Honda) replacing the M42 (BMW) engine now that ARA and NASA both allow any engine

Nice! Don't forget to post pics!

Has the Honda engine been done in the E36 before?

Very interested. The K24A2 is a beast and very easy to find.

Has the Honda engine been done in the E36 before?

It has. There is a company, KMiata, which produces an adapter for Mazda miata transmissions and BMW ZF and Getrag transmissions. While the kit for the BMW they will release is for the E30, the adapter will work for the E36 transmissions. I will make my own mounts off the frame. They also make the bits needed for rear drive (e.g., intake and exhaust manifold aiming the right way). A company in the UK makes a dry sump kit that solved all the clearance issues with the stock subframe and steering.
