I did not find a link to this earlier. This guy is building a tube frame Xratty with a full carbon fiber body. Good pictures and looks like a good build so far.

And for not thinking too hard.
A steel bodyshell when stitch welded and a cage well done is stronger than either separately. Stronger and stiffer.

this thing has little reason to be called a "Mare-KOOOooooooOOOR"

One has to admire the fabrication skills. A PhD thesis in carbon fiber and welding. When he's done, a fortune in carbon fiber and steel tubing to create- a 20-year old race car. He could use it like an artist's portfolio if he was seeking a fab job.

That's Gene Young. I bought his previous car, a replica Lotus 7 built for autocross. The suspension design and construction was first rate. Adjustable everything without having to take anything apart. It was fantastically easy to align to whatever settings I wanted.

Links to pics and specs in my for-sale ad. Not spamming - it's sold - just not delivered yet.

Also, Gene and Paul Bird are close friends. Paul Bird is building an over-the-top American Iron Extreme (AIX) class Mustang. He's got a build page on (cough) the Corral and although the pics have disappeared, he answers a lot of tech questions on Corner Carvers.

Yep. That's Paul's car. He's trying to build a widebody, DOHC V8 twin turbo Mustang with complete road racing safety equipment that weighs less than 2500 lbs.

He's not finished yet, but it looks like he'll be in the 2300+ lb range.
