yeah sometimes i like doing things the hard way, but you learn the most about a car that way.

after much reading and research and talking to JVL i'm looking at doing a b23 turbo with a harness and ecu out of around a 87 turbos had the LH 2.2. t5 mustang tranny and that's about all that's semi set in stone. I did find me a set of front rx7 brakes at the junk yard last time so i snagged them. But that's how i role start collecting the parts before i even get the car. smiling smiley

Hey Geno,

I can't hold my breath much longer! Are you going to kick down with some sage wisdom on motors for newbies or what?

Matt

Just thought that I would jump in and offer something in the local area to come look at, play with, etc. John has been helping me with the slow and painfully expensive progress that is building a rally brick. No cage and stock engine/tranny but slow progress is being made. My car is a 81 242 and I will be at the next rallycross on 0ct 5 in hillsbillieboro. Come on by and if your ass is small enough to get into the seat you are more than welcome to slide it around in the dirt a bit. Puts smiles on my face thats for sure.

Zap zap my ass...

850!!!!!

Those are poxy fawked up front drive POS POSs.

or 740?

109" wheelbase. Why when there are still masses of 240s rustfree here.

The Swedes and Finns seem to "consume" a lot of cars so the do what they have remaining cause it's easier, not always cause its better.

for the shear amount of 240s laying around peoples yards dead make me want to stick with the 240. the 740s are still more spendy then i can throw away (rally car).

i have seen crazy clean non running 242s sell at tow auctions for $250. that's hard to beat in any car for a shell or a whole car of spare parts.

Matt,
This is strictly in the discussion stages...talking at maybe removing the engine ancestory rule and maybe opening up drive train congiguration restrictions. This would be G5 for regional classes. Just discussion at this point.

Really wouldn't affect a guy thinking of doing a Volvo---if the guy has any brains.
(V8s are silly overkill, the 2300 Volvo can go just as fast- what the engine doesn't make for torque---and a right sized turbo can make buckets of torque---you make up with final drive.)

Might help those guys with bizarre drive configurations.
