Bosch rally lights?
September 15, 2008 10:31PM
Hey guys,

I'm looking for someone who deals in Bosch rally lights. I have a set of 8" rounds and I'm looking for parts. Google turns up bupkis.

In a previous life, I worked for a Bosch WD. My friends who are still there tell me that Bosch(USA) is out of the light business. I think Bosch (Canada)is still in. Most of the lights were produced in Sweden. I have bought lights ( and parts) off E-bay. Generally inexpensive a no one knows about them and prefers CIBIE/PIAA/ Marchall.

Yeah....at Baie somebody put a card under my windshield, apparently appalled at the semi-rusty, flaking reflector vintage Cibie Oscar Plusses mounted on the nose of my Legacy street car. But I can't find the card. Argh.

It was for NBB lights, and I think they were part of Bosch at one point. A quick Google found this:

http://www.abllights.com/

Ahh, some more Googling finds this:

http://www.nbb.se/eng_ver/eng_start.html

So it would appear these guys took over Bosch, and now the ABL people own NBB. Or something like that.

Don't know if they're going to be of any use for Old Skool Bosch lights, though. I think you'll be best served asking here, maybe SS (nah, probably not), or on some of the SAAB and Audi perv sites.

I seem to recall that the Sprongl's were big fans of the Bosch lights. You might give them a call.

Don't forget Canadian Tire. I bought lights there I couldn't get from Bosch USA.

Sorry, missed you chance!

And you DON'T want Pencils.
They're useless.

hmm, I like the idea of the running two widebeams on the outside and two pencils on the inside. I've only run with all widebeams and would like to try the pencils for distance.

The pencil distance is VERY far down the road. I did some testing with them at one point... useless on twisty stage roads... only useful on the highway, and that was to light up corners at the end ot 2km stretches.

The are quite literally two points of light focused WAY down the road.

Sprongl's seem to have parts in stock. I'm dreading the day I need to pick up some new ones... I busted a fog and a spot beam last year (broke the fog, so I put the spot in as a placeholder... then broke it!).

Kicking myself for trading my spare set of 'mid-range' lights.

Heh, well in the south west we don't have many forest stages. With Prescott coming up and the fast night stages I'm thinking I might try some pencils if I can get the lenses cheap.

Use the Pro-Comps. I use them, they're cheap and work well when aimed correctly. Call Jim Pierce down there or go to one the 4 Wheel Supplies. I think they run about $45 each.
